Before you change the fluid take out the gear box dip stick and look at the oil it should be a red colour and when it's old oil like a very dark red it needs changing and filter it is a auto matic box colin

Not overly familiar with Audis but it sounds like either a.) you have an electronic tranny that has a serious bug or b.) there's a problem in the computer of the car itself. What is sounds like is the car is taking a long time to "understand" that you're telling it to move forward. How new is the car? When you push on the gas before the three minutes, what happens?

I always check remans before they are installed; the Bendix may not be advancing the starter gear or you may have teeth missing from the flywheel.
I'd pull the starter and check the condition of the flyhweel.

I had the same problem. take apart the inner door skin and lube the hell out of the linkage. spray lubricant into the keyhole.

gm transmissions are infamous for there transmission failures. and gm refuses to recall them.
