Question about GMC K1500
It sounds to me like you need to have the system checked to leaks If that is not enough 134a in the system the compressor is not start up. Now if you have already do that and it is still not working then there is a Air Conditioner Amplifier That also starts the Compressor and will not start if it is bad. That controls the trucks idle and air conditioning compressor. if that is bad you may have to take it to a shop. But if you have not check the level in the system then you can do that yourself. Go to your nearest WalMart And buy a can of 134a with Sealant in the can and make sure you buy to one that has the system check gauge on the R134a fix it kit. Now what you want to do is to Open your hood on the truck and find the evaporator Its the Small Round a little bigger than a pop can should be stainless or aluminum having two lines running into it, You will see a Black Cap there and there may be two of them You want to use the on closest to the evaporator with the smaller fitting, Make sure the filler tube that comes with the R134 kit fits on the Valve by just taking off the valve cap and see if the tube fits on that fitting. Now what you want to do is go ahead and put the can and the tube together and go and start your truck up, turn your air conditioner on go out and Hook up the filler tube and can of 134 place on system and pull trigger on can of system seal and 134a let off and look at the gauge on can see if it reads Low or High Blue is usually good at the top of the blue. Just read the can and directions it fairly simple and I think You will find its low and need to be filled with the 134a and sealer so just go ahead pull trigger holding can upside down and let off few seconds until filled your compressor will start to turn on and off until system is up to full an hopefully it will seal it up and she will be working again, JAEGERMAN Hope that help you out Thanks for using Fix Ya and I am Bear001
