Question about GMC K1500

1 Answer

My 1995 GMC Sierra pickup has a problem with the A/C. The A/C stopped working while I was driving to work. I have checked the 2 fuses that show in the manual and both are okay. I'm curious if the A/C compressor relay could be bad?

I've been having issues with my 1995 GMC Sierra A/C. The A/C will blow fine and all of a sudden, I will hear a groaning sound and the blower stops working, but I can still hear the compressor working. I can turn the control knob to off and wait a few minutes and sometimes it will come on and run fine other times it won't come on at all. Last year I replaced the control unit at the suggestion of a mechanic and it worked for about 3 days before the same issue came up again. I have spoken with a mechanic and he said to replace a resistor for the blower? I went and bought a haynes repair manual and a resistor from Autozone, but I can't figure out how to get the blower unit out(repair photos in haynes manual are from earlier model and in my 95 there is a metal bar running in front of the blower motor), how do i get the blower motor out? Also this resistor is a rather large part and I can't seem to find where it would go. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

It sounds to me like you need to have the system checked to leaks If that is not enough 134a in the system the compressor is not start up. Now if you have already do that and it is still not working then there is a Air Conditioner Amplifier That also starts the Compressor and will not start if it is bad. That controls the trucks idle and air conditioning compressor. if that is bad you may have to take it to a shop. But if you have not check the level in the system then you can do that yourself. Go to your nearest WalMart And buy a can of 134a with Sealant in the can and make sure you buy to one that has the system check gauge on the R134a fix it kit. Now what you want to do is to Open your hood on the truck and find the evaporator Its the Small Round a little bigger than a pop can should be stainless or aluminum having two lines running into it, You will see a Black Cap there and there may be two of them You want to use the on closest to the evaporator with the smaller fitting, Make sure the filler tube that comes with the R134 kit fits on the Valve by just taking off the valve cap and see if the tube fits on that fitting. Now what you want to do is go ahead and put the can and the tube together and go and start your truck up, turn your air conditioner on go out and Hook up the filler tube and can of 134 place on system and pull trigger on can of system seal and 134a let off and look at the gauge on can see if it reads Low or High Blue is usually good at the top of the blue. Just read the can and directions it fairly simple and I think You will find its low and need to be filled with the 134a and sealer so just go ahead pull trigger holding can upside down and let off few seconds until filled your compressor will start to turn on and off until system is up to full an hopefully it will seal it up and she will be working again, JAEGERMAN Hope that help you out Thanks for using Fix Ya and I am Bear001

Could be the speed sensor in the transmission. I would check that component first.

2008 GMC Sierra pickup. Driving and all of a sudden it shut off then turned back on; the doors unlocked then locked again. Now it won't do anything. Checked the oil and it was empty - no oil at

Running with no oil is death for the motor ( Seized). When the alternator stopped working because the engine stopped the door lock control opened the door locks as it said you were below the required speed to have them locked

The interior lights do not work on my 1995 GMC 1500 Sierra Pickup

Either the door switch, console light switch (if it can turn /on/off these lights) fuse, relay and its source of power. If the interior lights on ceiling have an on/off switch check this out to. B+ must be present at these lights when doors are open or switches are closedaka on position. I would check for B+ leaving the relay after each one of the controls are activated seperately. Remember the relay and fuse are common to all the controls.
