Check the fuse first. If not that then it is most likely the thermostatic switch on the radiator. Try bridging it out and see if the fans come on. If not that then it could be a relay.

Where are the relay switches for the cooling fan on a 1996 Sedan Deville.

Not sure about the relays, but thought you might like to know on the Northstar engines the fan thermostat is set to kick in at 240 degrees. Never could figure out why so high.

Cooling fan stays on when car is off. Took off battery cables to stop it. Is it suppose to run after cars off until engines cool?? Thanks, Chloe

It would be normal for the cooling fans to run after you shut the car off because the power to the fans is turned on and off by a thermostat and not the key. Don't worry about it unless it runs for more than 15-20 minutes when you shut the car off. It may run that long in summer if the car is hot but less in the winter. Hope this helps.

I haver a 1989 cadi. and the air condi. compressor kicks on and offa and doesn't cool

if the compressor kicks on and off and doesn't cool this is the first sign of not having enough charge in the system. the a/c clutch will always kick on and off while running becuase this is dictated by the expansion valve which regulates the system, however you should have cool air about 50 degrees F for 134a at 35 psi on lowside and 130 150 psi on high side. the undercharge can becaused by degration of the 134a overtime or a leak in the system. have a certified ac tech look at the system and do a vaccum check for leaks if it holds a vaccum for 15 minutes at -29psi then there is no leak and the system just needs recharging.. please rate this
