Rear Window won't open. Motor or relay?

  • Anonymous Aug 28, 2008

My 2003 Odyssey rear windows would sometimes open, then would not open at all. The local Honda dealer assessed the problem and told me it was the motor. The repair was estimated to cost $550. I will just leave my rear windows closed

Both rear windows stopped working at about same time (week or two apart). Hear the click when I press button but they do not operate.

2002 Odyssey. My issue sounds the same as many here.....intermittent operation; sometimes they work but mostly they don't.

It can't be closed manually. Honda used garbage motors in these things. My 2003 odyssey had both motors replaced under warranty and they are both shot again. It is a very easy fix but the motors are about $80 each on Ebay. You could get away with prying off the panel from the top and hindging it off at the bottom. The motor is very easy to take out and re install. Disconect the one small electrical clip. Don't forget the screw on the window. Pop off the plastic cover and unscrew the philips head screw.

The fan stopped working for the rear AC/heat in our 2003 odyssey. Checked 40amp suqare fuse under hood and it tested ok. Is there a fuse or breaker for the rear fan motor?

The large fuse you checked is for the rear fan blower motor. The fuse you need to check is for the fan motor relays and rear mode control motor. It is fuse No. 3 (7.5A) located in the driver's under dash kick panel fuse box.

If fuse No. 3 is blown and you replace the fuse and it blows immediately, you'll have to check the five relays and the mode control motor all located near the rear A/C unit in the right aft sidewall. Most likely, the mode control doors have become jammed and that is why the fuse blows. The doors shift air from overhead vents (cool) to floor vents (heat).

If the fuse is fine, the trouble is probably with the blower motor itself or the wiring to the blower motor is broken, or there is a bad ground.

Sir i have a 2002 haonda odyssy , for which the rear vents donot open any suggestions please.

This is a known problem for Honda Odysseys. The fix is to replace the rear vent window motors or live without their ability to open.

2003 Odyssey. Door locks only work manually.

There must be a ground wire to frame that was disconnected. Take the vehicle back to the shop and have them look.

Noise from rear suspension on 2003 Honda Odyssey.

a clunking clanging noise sounds very much like your stabilizer bar end links and bushings. you have a thin rear "sway" bar on the rear of your odyssey. this can cause a whole lot of noise. grab each side and pull/push. if it feals loose, replace the end links and bushings.

2003 Honda Odyssey Brake light replacement

open the rear hatch. Between the tail light housing and the rear hatch opening there is a trim strip with two flush fitted flap doors. Insert a small straight blade screwdriver into the small slot on the tail light side of the flap. Pry gently inboard and the small flap will open (the hinge side of the flap is on the side of the rear hatch opening.) Now you can remove the screws that hold the tail lamp assembly in place. Finally, there is still a "spear point" clip that fits into a socket near the front outboard corner of the assembly. Gently pry with a tape wrapped screwdriver (avoids scratches) and force the assembly straight back. The clip should release and free the assembly so you can change the bulb(s).

2001 Honda Odyssey Transmission Problem

The Odyssey has notorious bad transmissions from 2000-2003. You will not get anything on a trade, the trans can be fixed for about $2k. If everything else on the van still works and you like it, figure you bought it again for $2k. I changen my wife's Odyssey trans at 175K miles for $2k and she is happy so therefore I am happy too :-)
