I have a 1994 pontiac transport se just had that happen to me. Checked the battery and it was still good and charging, my mechanic changed the "starter" but then it happened again. He said it was some switch on the transmission. You can start it in nutrael but he changed the switch. You see I just had the transmission done and he said sometimes that switch goes bad...Well it works now..

Possible that the starter is bad. I just replaced one on a 1999 Trans Sport. Now no problem

SOURCE: 1996 mitsubishi eclipse doesn't start when turning

check for voltage at the small start wire on the starter when cranking the engine--you will need someone help. If there is no voltage you may have a bad neutral safety switch ,which is on the trany shifter.you have an automatic trans i assume.
If so try putting in neutral when cranking.

SOURCE: will not crank turn key

Check fuse # 28 (15 Amp) with a test light. (Located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) on the left side of the engine compartment) It should have power only when the ignition switch is turned to the START position. If there is no power there, then you probably have a bad ignition switch. The only other fuse involved would be fuse #8 (40 Amp) which is also in the PDC. If this fuse is blown a whole lot of stuff is not going to work - not just your starter. The starter motor relay (Also in the PDC) is controlled by the PowertrainControl Module. The wiring diagrams show it as a 5 pin relay whereonly 4 of the pins are used. If you check for power and ground at the connector pins for the relay, there should be one pin that is hot all the time. This is the power from fuse #8. a second pin should be hot with the key in the RUN and START positions. This would be the circuit running through fuse# 28. One pin should have continuity to ground (your test light should light up if you hook it to the battery positive terminal and probe this terminal.) This is the circuit that goes down to the starter. The 4th pin will have no continuity to anything at all until the ignition is placed in the START position, when it will have continuity to ground. This is the relay control circuit from the PCM.
If you dont have power at the relay connector as described, then you must repair the circuits between the fuses and the relay. If you don't have the grounds as describedfor the starter circuit, you ether have an open circuit going to the starter or a bad starter. If you are not getting ground on the control circuit from the PCM, it could be several other things causing your no-crank problem. It could be an open circuit between the starter relay and the PCM or it could be that the PCM is not allowing an engine start for one reason or another - The PCM will have to be scanned to find out what the problem is.

2004 ford taurus ses turns over barley one short time, makes no noise when ya turn it over.Battery is full charge, lights are bright and dont dim when ya turn key

I don't think any of the previous answers came from a qualified technician. heres the deal: starting the car has nothing to do with the headlights, it cant be a bad fuse because like you said it turns over once, the alternator has nothing to do with the starting of the car, and fuel pump wont keep the car from turning over.
follow these steps in order
FIRST, take your battery to an auto parts store and have it checked, even if it shows a full charge it can still be bad.
if the battery test good, clean both battery terminals well. starting the car requires a lot more energy from your battery then the headlights, so even with bright lights there could still be an issue with the terminals.
if the car still wont start, check the battery cable itself for corrosion, if corrosions present replace the cable.
next check the ground wire from the battery to the frame of the car. make sure it has a clean connection on the frame.
if these are good and still wont turn over, then replace the starter.

Key won't turn the ignition 2000 s-series saturn

Test the battery if it does absolutely nothing when trying to turn over, if battery is good, check for a bad fuse possibly, check leads from ignition control module to the starter, possibly could be a bad ignition switch in the car. if the car attempts to turnover but wont start, you could be looking at a bad starter, fuel pump. Before you go too far into it though, just get the battery tested better to start small with these things, Good Luck!

Unlocked car accidetally relocked it unlocked again got in turned key nothing !

Just because you charged the battery doesn't mean it is a good battery and accepted the charge, have it load tested. Then let me know the result via the comment link below.

New battery In mercedes no power

I'm not a car mechanic, but, it sounds like you might want to check the fuse to the ignition switch, and, if that fails, it might be a problem with the Start Safety Switch on the transmission. Good luck.

1991 thunderbird sc starting problems

Use a 12volt test light and connect to the starter energiser wire, get someone to turn the key and see if the test light comes on, if no then the starter relay has packed in. A further test you can do, but YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL, set car in park DON't switch the ignition on, and direct feed the starter to see if it cranks the engine, if yes you are back to the starter relay.

I got an issue that I'm stumped on. here is the

By shorting out the neg and pos terminals of the battery for 10 minutes you have flattened the battery and may have damaged a cell and plates in a cell. You should have got a massive spark and if you didn't then the battery is not all that good. Just because the battery is new does not mean that it is not faulty. That is why there is a warranty on the battery. You reset the cpu by the use of a code reader as the cpu needs to be reprogrammed to reset.. You keep saying like it is getting little or no power . Do a load test on the battery and you may find that it fails under load

My car wont start. I replaced my battery but it still wont start. Tested the alternator and it is good. Something might be draining the battery but not sure what?

Does the engine spin over and not start? Or turn the key and nothing happens?
New spark plugs and wires won't have anything to do with the starter and battery keeping the engine from spinning when you turn the key.
Need more specific explanation. Thanks,

I have good battery in car but no dash lights and car will not start or when i turn the key nothing 'no click no speedo lights

Do you have power to the fuse box under the hood? if not then check the integrity of the Positive battery cable. This could also be the ignition starter switch down low on the steering column tube under the dash, the switch comes apart and you loose power to the car. You will need to buy a 12 volt test light probe to do the testing, about $4 at any Autozone or Advance Auto parts. Below is a picture of the starter switch I mentioned.1_29_2012_1_04_33_am.jpg
