Also, forgot to mention that in the beginning, you will also need to remove the oil filter.

Changing the starter on a 4x4 pathfinder is a real pain. First Jack up the car and remove the passenger side front tire. Then, you need to remove the heat plate you see, the oil pressure sensor, and the bolt attatched to the frame which holds two hard lines in place. This will allow you to reach the starter now. Then, you need to remove the negative cable attatched to the starter. No need to remove the red cable, as it is attatched to the starter itself. Next, remove the two bolts that hold the starter in place, probably will have to get under the car to do so. The top one is tough to get, but will come. Once the starter is loose, pull it to the front of the car and you should be able to pull it out right underneath the bumber. It is a very, very tight fit. You will just have to play with it until you hit it just right to get it out. Slide the new starter in the same way you pulled the old one out, Put the bolts back in and hook everything back up and you should be in business. As mentioned earlier, it is not easy and may take between 3 and 3 1/2 hours. But, this should do it.

How can I jump the starter on my 91 camaro?

hot wire starter you can short out ignition switch and wiring. to jump starter ignition switch start postion.you have to run 10 gauge jumper wire from the starter solenoid positive battery terminal to starter switch or S terminal on starter solenoid this procedure take two people but better remove starter replace starter solenoid. trying jumping off starter on camaro would be dangerous you have jack up car to get to starter and wiring person laying under car hot wiring starter while other person hold ignition start position put person under car in deadly position just remove starter have auto parts check it out first replace starter or solenoid if either bad. easier hot wire starter if starter under hood like my 1977 vega monza had starter at top could take long screw driver jump starter off.on the four cylinders engines back in the 70s. camaro starter under car dangerous trying to hot wire not a good idea.

How to get to the starter

STARTING SYSTEM Starter REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Fig. 1: Disconnect the wiring from the starter motor 88162p10.jpg
Fig. 2: After unbolting the starter, remove it from the vehicle 88162p11.jpg
In 1978, a gear reduction starter was introduced on some Canadian and United States models. The differences between the gear reduction and conventional starters are: the gear reduction starter has a set of ratio reduction gears while the conventional starter does not. The extra gears on the gear reduction starter make the starter pinion gear turn at about half the speed of the starter, giving the starter twice the turning power of a conventional starter.
    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
    2. Tag and disconnect the wiring at the starter, taking note of the positions for correct reinstallation.
    3. Remove the bolts attaching the starter to the engine and remove the starter from the vehicle.
    4. Install the starter in the reverse order of removal.

Replacing a new starter on a 93 isuzu rodeo

Don't know what size motor you have because you didn't post it so please pick the proper one:

This is for the 4 cylinder motor--

    8e64f3e.gif
    4-cylinder engine starter connections

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
    3. If equipped, it may be necessary to disconnect and remove the EGR pipe to access all the starter bolts.
    4. Tag and disconnect the starter battery and control wiring at the starter.
    5. If equipped, remove the starter bracket and/or heat shield.
    6. Remove the starter-to-engine bolts.
    7. Move the starter away from the engine and down to remove from the vehicle. Some starter may be installed with shims between the starter and engine. When the starter is removed, these shims may fall out. Do not loose them.
    To install:
    1. Install the starter and shims, if equipped to the engine. Align the mounting bolt holes and insert the bolts. Hand-tighten the bolts.
    2. Tighten the starter mounting bolts to 30–34 ft. lbs. (39–44 Nm).
    3. Install the starter bracket and/or heat shield, if equipped.
    4. Connect the battery and starter control electrical wires to the starter.
    5. If the EGR pipe was removed, install it.
    6. Lower the vehicle.
    7. Connect the negative battery cable.
    8. Start the vehicle to make sure the starter functions correctly.
This is for the V6 motor--

    8fdc27b.gif
    6-cylinder engine starter installation

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
    3. Label and disconnect the battery and starter control wires from the starter.
    4. If equipped, remove the starter bracket and/or heat shield.
    5. Remove the starter-to-engine mounting bolts.
    6. Lower the starter from the engine. If any shims are present, keep them for reinstallation purposes.
    To install:
    1. Install the starter and shims, if equipped, to the engine. Tighten the mounting bolts to 30–34 ft. lbs. (39–44 Nm).
    2. Install the starter bracket and/or heat shield, if equipped.
    3. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the starter.
    4. Lower the vehicle.
    5. Connect the negative battery cable.
    6. Start the vehicle to make sure the starter functions correctly.
