Wont hold a charge.new starter, new battery, alternater is good

go to an auto parts store that will give FREE battery & alternator tests. if both are confirmed good. suspect a parasitic or phantom drain. meaning, even if the the car was turned off (no key in ignition), there's a load (in addition to computer, radio, security system memories= these have neglible draw) which is still drawing current from the battery.

How to remove the ignition key cylinder 2001 chevy malibu

first disconnect the battery.
second you will need the ignition key.

step 1: remove the radio cover
step 2: remove the radio
step 3: remove the 2 bolts holding the ignition switch in place
step 4: work the switch out through the radio hole
step 5: gently unplug the white and the yellow wires from the side of the cylinder
Optional: completely remove the switch by disconnecting the ignition wires and cable.
( you do not have to completly remove the switch if you are just changing the cylinder)
step 6: follow the video
a: put the key in
b: turn key two clicks
c: push the holding pin with a small screwdriver
d: pull the cylinder out

use cation when unplugging and replugging and the white and yellow wires, these are the anti-theft security wires. they plug into the chip on the cylinder. the car will not run without them or if the chip gets damaged.

The radio buttons on 09 altima are not responding when u try to change to a new radio station and to cd or radio plus when u put the cd in u can't skip to the next song

First impression is you radio is toast. It maybe some component gone bad on a circuit panel inside the radio. Before you consign it to the deep try "rebooting" it. Most electronically controlled radios have some king of logic and memory boards in them ...so treat your radio like your computer when it starts misbehaving. To reboot the radio disconnect the battery (remove the black/negative lead first then the positive/red lead from the battery), put the key in the ignition and try to start the car (it won't of course but this is to discharge any holding capacitors) and turn on the radio ...again to discharge any holding capacitors. Turn everything off and let it sit overnight if you can. Reconnect the battery. The radio should have lost all saved information (time, stations, EQ settings etc) and may now be responsive to button inputs. If this doesn't work then I'd say the radio is a goner.

Changing out ignition switch

    Remove the Ignition Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket or box wrench. Pull the airbag fuse from the driver's side fuse panel using the fuse removal tool found on the panel. Disable the theft-lock system on the radio.

  2. Remove the instrument cluster by removing the bezel screws with a screwdriver and prying the bezel off with a prying tool or flathead screwdriver.

  3. Remove the two screws holding the ignition switch in place with a screwdriver.

  4. Push the ignition switch about one inch toward the front of the vehicle so that it will clear the mounting bracket. Lift the switch up and out from behind the instrument panel.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition switch. Put the key in the ignition and turn it the Run position.

  6. Press the spring-loaded pin on the side of the ignition switch with a small screwdriver. Pull the lock cylinder out by the key.

  7. Install the New Ignition Switch
  8. Place the ignition key in the new ignition cylinder and push the cylinder into place in the ignition housing. Turn the key to the off position and remove it.

  9. Connect the electrical wires to the back of the ignition switch.

  10. Put the switch assembly in position in the cluster and install and tighten the two screws with a screwdriver.

  11. Install the instrument cluster bezel and attach the two screws with a screwdriver.

  12. Replace the airbag fuse in the driver's side fuse panel. Connect the negative battery cable with a wrench. Enter the code for the Theft-lock system into the radio.

How do i change my igniton switch in my 94 acura legend?

To replace ignition switch on 94 legend, first secure the car on a level parking surface, engage parking brake, chock wheels for added safety. Disarm airbags, be aware of a coded radio / sound system, ensure that the 'disarming' code is available or it may be very difficult to reset the radio. Disconnect the Neg. battery cable from the battery post. Remove lower cover panel from lower dash on driver's side. Remove electrical connector from ignition switch. Ignition key must be used to turn cylinder from 'O' to 'I' when necessary to unlock cylinder from column (Steering-Lock Pawl). Remove 2 bolt / fasteners which hold ignition switch in place - it may be necessary to cut a grove into the top of each fastener with a hack-saw or high-speed-cut-off tool if fasteners are the original round-head type. Sometimes simply trying a good pair of locking-pliers with a tight grip will be able to loosten the bolts enough to remove them. Once the old ignition cylinder is removed, clean inside the cylinder opening, install the new cylinder & secure all wiring which was removed, secure switch with new bolts, test switch, replace covers & last of all, reinstall battery connection.

I got a new battery for my audi a-4...now my radio wont turn on. i hear i need a code, but my radio wont even turn on for me to enter it. pep boys checked my fuses and said they are all fine...?

Yours radio has a burnt fuse in back right side of it (10A). You must extract the radio box out from dash panel in order to replace this burnt fuse. You need two special radio keys extracting tools. For Chorus and Concert AUDI radios use T10057 radio release tool:
1. Switch off all electrical equipment.
2. Remove ignition key.
3. Insert two radio release tools T10057 into slots on radio (bottom front side) until they engage.
4. Pointed ends of grips must face outwards.
5. Grasp hold of grips on radio release tool T10057 and pull radio out of dash panel.
6. Release and unplug electrical connectors at radio.
7. Press release tabs on radio and remove radio release tool T10057.
8. Replace the burnt fuse (10A) with new one.
9. Plug in all connectors.
10. Slide radio carefully into dash panel and engage it in mounting frame.
