Sounds like the sender unit is done ,unfortunately this is located in the tank itself you need to have tank drained to drop tank out and replace sender unit easy job but time consuming

Gas gauge not reading gas and gas light stays on why

Hi,there is a float sensor in the fuel tank if its stuck with the float at the bottom of the tank the light will stay on,so to find out if the sender is falty just look at the fuel tank for two connectors undo the two wires and join them together the turn ignision on and see if the gage now runs up to full,if it gose to full then replace the sender in the tank.

Hi Cherles, I'm glad to help!

I'm not there to diagnose it properly but here's a couple thing you can try! (1) When a vehicle sits for a long period of time the gas can go bad. I would make sure the gas is not full of moisture from sitting so long. (2) OH the old years when they had points. I would take the point out and see if they are burnt if they are replace them. Start here and see if this helps. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Cherles.

1999 nissan altima pops and sputters while driving

Hi Scott, I'm glad to help!

Scott, if you haven't performed a TUNE UP I would suggest starting there. If you have tuned it up, then hook up a fuel gauge and tape it to the windshield securely so you can see it. Then drive it and see if you lose fuel pressure when the problem occurs. If you lose fuel pressure then replace the fuel pump. If the fuel pressure stays even and doesn't drop then the fuel pump isn't the problem. Then you'll need to move on to an electrical issue. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Scott.

Gas gauge stays on full

very common. The sender in the gas tank is the problem.
It will need to be replaced some day
Both my gas tanks do the same thing in my F250. 1 tank stays full all the time and the other drops from full to about a half tank when I get to half a tank and then works so so till empty.

Hi there,

Can you please confirm if the "N" light on your instrument panel, was flashing when locked in 3rd gear?

If so, was it flashing:

a) 1 flash per second?
or
b) 2 flashes per second?

I drive 2005 ford cab. it has a problem of speed, when I give gas, the niddle rige up but the speed remain same just like if the speed 25mph though I give more gas , speed does not change and gas niddle...

I need make and model and more information, I understand that the odometer is not marking the correct speed and the fuel indicator is not stable Most of the time the speed is not marking correctly is that the spindle or plastic gear are striped if it's a cable operated if it's electrical then it could be the speed sensor on the transmission now with the fuel gauge there could be a loss negative cable if you can give me make and model and motor maybe I can give you more information good luck

Engine turns over but will not start

HI. There may be an issue with the fuel flow to the injectors. I would run a check on the fuel pump and see if its working properly. make sure the fuse is OK and check the voltage at the pump. it should be 14 volts there. Also, check the fuel filter as well. there may be a clog. The last check up will be the coil/distributor cap and points. make sure the assembly is working and creating spark for the plugs. check the wires as well that connect to the plugs.

please rate and god bless..
