SOURCE: 1998 chevy s10- brake pedal goes to the floor-

Did you put fresh fluid in the master cylinder? I really think you still have air in the lines. To bleed manually, start with the bleeder the greatest distance from the master cylinder, car running, helper pushing down about half way on brake pedal and releasing 3 times, on 3rd time, holding pedal down to half way depressed point while you open the bleeder valve. Repeat until you are sure all air has been flushed out. Check master cyl reservoir level often, because if it gets low and you **** air into the system, you have to start all over again. Go to wheel next greatest distance from master cyl, repeat above, working your way to wheel closest to master cyl last.

My break went out on my chevy s10 xtreme 2.2L 4cl. there are no leaks and new break pads. I also changed the master cylinder and still no breaks? can you please tell me why?

I assume that you have disc brakes. These require a piston/s to push against the pads to tighten them onto the discs. 2 reasons they may not be working are the calliper pistons are seized up in the callipers and 2 the brake booster is not providing the power assist to actuate the callipers. If you have vacuum booster I would repair/replace the booster or check for vacuum at the booster hose. If you have electric pump booster then check that the pump is getting power and is working.

How long does it take to change a breack booster for a chevy s10

I can't remember what book says but I can't imagine it taking more than 3 or 4 hours taking your time even if you mess up and spill the fluid out of the Master cylinder and have to bleed the system. BTW, it's "Brake" Booster and sits on the firewall between the brake pedal linkage and the master cylinder. Oh and there are big differences between a 96 GMC Sierra and a Chevy S10 but the job is about the same and should take about the same length of time

Need a wiring diagram for a chevy s10. brake

your power starts at the brake light fuse, check with a test light, then proceed to stop light switch on brake pedal under dash, one wire will be hot when when you check it with your test light, the other won't be until you press down the brake pedal then the power flows through to the second wire,if no power to second wire replace switch,if you have power remove tail light bulbs and check for power in side socket.

My brakes make a hissing noise inside by the pedal and you have to push the brakes hard to make them work

It sounds like the vacuum-operated brake booster is leaking. Have a shop diagnose it before replacement.

I have a 1998 chevy s10 it has a good brake pedal with the engine off but with it running the pedal go'es to the floor and you can hear air at brake booster

Check for fluid leaks and your brakes. If you see no leaks and your brakes are in good shape replace the brake master cylinder and bleed the system. The air you hear is because the pedal went to the floor. If the booster goes bad the pedal will get so hard you can hardly push it at all. I think you will find if this happened suddenly either you have a major leak or the master cylinder went bad.

Chevy s10 brake caliper

Hey zach, no they are not reverse thread. They are most likely just very tight from the heat and cool cycles they go thru. Put your wrench on them and give it a few sharp raps with a ball peen hammer. That should break them loose enough to finish with the wrench.
