Question about 2005 Pontiac Aztek

Radio speakers shorting out

Half way to beach, radio speakers started shorting out. Eventually all stopped completely. A few minutes later, they started working again. Speakers worked all week at beach, then on the way home, they quit working again, except tweeters, you could barely hear them. When radio is turned off, you can hear static through tweeters. Had new A/C compressor put on before going to beach. Had no problem with radio until after compressor change. Probably a coincidence, I don't know. Anyway, I am disabled and can't afford to take to repair shop, so I must try to fix radio myself. Is this feasible, and if so, how do I fix speakers?

I suggest Checking the ground wire to the battery. It sounds like it is loosing earth ground to the speakers.or the technician didn't attach wire back to engine block near the compressor.

I have a Bosch radio that will play for a few minutes then all of a sudden no sound. Just stops. But it will still be on. Can change stations and everything so it is on just no sound. please help

Sounds like the internal relay is kicking in because it is detecting a short in one of your speaker wires. disconnect each speaker one at a time and locate the one that causing the failure. (if you disconnect the correct one, the radio will stop cutting out). Then find out what is wrong with that speaker circuit. Maybe the speaker wire has chafed through and is shorting to ground.

The humming sound prior to cutting out could indicate a short in the unit itself.....remove unit and have it tested!

Radio quit working

Sounds like someone shorted the wires...you need to look into the entire butcher job and see what wires were touched. Disconnect everything the butcher did and then see if your battery is still drainning power.

On my 2003 Avalanche, after the radio has been on for a few minutes static starts in the front right speaker then travels to all of them. As the static gets louder the radio volume goes down and the static...

take out the speaker in question and test it.
a 9v battery is good enough to 'burp' it.
if it makes a scratchy noise when you put power to it then you have a short in the voice coil.
Burping a speaker is just a short power up. Don't hold power to it.
Tap it on and off like a music note measure.

Radio is on, but no sound. 2003 Olds Silhouette.

I had avery similar problem with my radio. At first I would lose audio but it would eventually come back. Then I lost it for good. I replace the radio and that work for a bit and then replaced the speakers and they worked for a bit. Eventually no audio. I took the radio and speakers back to the tech who installed them and he found a short in the speaker wiring to the passenger speakers. He installed a jumper around the short and the new radio and speakers worked fine. Then I had him put in the original raidio and speakers and have had audio ever since.

There is a major short somewhere, the hum you hear in the speaker

Radio CD not working & lights don't flash remote keylock

Sometime the computer in car will shut down a circuit when it sees a problem even if it only occure once. You can try to disconnect the battery for at least 2 min so all sys power off (some have capacitors that mantaine a charge for short time). If a battery disconnect does not clear problem you have go to dealer and have them to clear codes and reset you modules and your preferences

Signal indicator brake lights and fm radio

You may have an intermittent switch or possibly a shorted or broken wire. As for the radio, I'd yank it and put an after market deck in. GM radios aren't known for their quality. But, you could check the back of the radio to see if the antenna lead is plugged in securely.
Hope this helps.
