I was told the same thing. The window is loose all the way around my 2001 TT. I started with a small problem and glued it back with some epoxy but the whole window is coming out now.

I'm having the same problem. Audi wants to charge $850 to rebound the glass to the fabric. The Upholstery located near the dealership wants to charge $750 which i believe Audi dropped their cars. Talked to another place in town and they will rebound the glass for $200 (glue back the glass). The separation is not too bad...i will take my car and hope that works!

If its a small seperation, it can be glued. If most if it has come undone, you're gonna have to get a new top. I'm going through that process now, looking at about 600-650 for the top, and another 700 to put it in. Thinking about doing it myself but looked it over and it seems kinda rough.

I have a 2007 mustang convertible top that will not go down. with key on windows go to park down position but no hydraulic pump sound checking fuses to ensure good power. where should i begin?

Principles of Operation
Convertible top operation is controlled by the smart junction box (SJB). When the convertible top raise/lower switch is operated, the SJB commands the front and rear windows to the full down position. Window operation is disabled while the convertible top raise/lower switch is being operated. When the SJB receives a full down input for both rear windows, it commands the appropriate relay closed to raise or lower the convertible top. If the SJB does not receive a full down input signal for both rear windows, the convertible top operation is disabled.

The convertible top hydraulic system uses a 12 volt reversible pump and motor assembly. When active, the pump uses hydraulic pressure to extend the hydraulic lift cylinders to raise the convertible top, or retract the hydraulic lift cylinders to lower the convertible top. The convertible top motor/pump assembly is equipped with a thermal circuit breaker. The circuit breaker typically resets after 5 minutes depending on the ambient temperature. The thermal circuit breaker cannot be repaired and must be installed as a unit with the motor/pump assembly. In the event of a hydraulic system failure, the convertible top cannot be operated manually.

Inspection and Verification
  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Convertible top coming away from glass window

This is a common problem. At the factory, the top material is bonded to the glass. That bond is breaking down. You can use Gorilla taps or urethane adhesive, but you will eventually need a new window unit.
The window unit is separate from the actual top. The top must be partially removed to replace the window unit.

BACK WINDOW SEPARATING FROM CONVERTIBLE TOP

Your glass was originally heat sealed to the top material. When it begins delaminating, your only recourse is to replace the top because your new top will come with a new window. Any sticky gooey repairs are very temporary at best

Replacing the back window in a 2002 convertible

The rear window in your car is a separate part from the top so it can be replaced without replacing the top.
You must, however remove most of the top.
Windows are available on Ebay and instructions are available on DVD here.

2003 beetle convertible top detached from window

My problem has been solved. I contacted the VW Customer Service and spoke with an advocate. The advocate and my dealership reached a conclusion and VW has decided to replace the items to alleviate my problem at their cost. Sometimes, dreams come true. Good luck to all of you who have similar problems with your VW Beetle convertible. It took quite a lot of patience and determination on my part, but the VW advocate was sympathetic to my plight since I'd never taken the vehicle anywhere else but the dealership for all repairs. The repairs have not been completed yet, so I cannot say whether or not the dilemma is, indeed, solved.

2004 Volkswagen convertable top

The window coming unglued is not an unusual problem for that car.
The bad news? To fix it correctly, you have to replace the top (like $2,500+)
I did automotive trim work (upholstery) for 19 years and have seen a number of problem with convertible top back windows (not just VW).
But because of the design of the top, the back window insert style, and the heated back window, they don't come cheap.
You can try taking it by a local trim shop (listed in the phonebook under automotive upholstery) and see if they have a "patch" fix they can do, but I can say, no patch is going to fix it permanently.
Sorry I don't have better news, but it is the nature of that beast.
