When water hits belt - it throws it off!

check all the bearing in all of the acc. power steering pump water pump idler pully a/c compressor etc. if all good no nise and they spinn freely check the alinment of all the puilly mak so they all line on together. sometimes the power steering pully get worn inside the pump and allow it to move back and forth too much some play is normal. also the power steering pully trys to walk off the shaft and make the belt track off the other pullys .

The Solenoid fitted on the Steering Rack is not getting the command from The Body Control Unit. Kindly Replace your BCM and then your problem is solved. You can try to make sure by giving direct current of 12v to the solenoid and check the Steering. if it works then simply change the BCM as it's not giving d command to the Solenoid. Salman EiD

How do you repair/replace rack & pinion assembly?

The only reason to repair/replace rack and pinion is if the wheel took a hit in an accident, or it has a power steering problem.

The rack is long and thin, attached to the tie rods on each end, which can be popped with a picklefork, or removed by twisting the toe-in adjustment sleeves (count the turns for replacement having a reasonable starting point).

Then there is just the steering shft coupling, the power steering hoses, and the 4 hold down bolts.

Since it is long and thin, it generally slips out one side or the other, as long as a wheel if off.

My chrysler voyager 2lt got problems with power steering fluid full but making whining noises and very heavy

Belts tight? If so check your steering rack unit for leaks (wetness) around ends of seals. Also where rack is mounted for loose bushings that rack mount in. Look sort of like stablizer bushings. Possible causes would be bad Steering Rack or pump itself.

Replacing the Power Steering

belt is cheap. power steering pump is cheap (find a good used one a salvage yard) power steering rack is a bit more expensive and more involved to replace. you really need to know what is bad. make sure the fluid is full first. any noises?
