Ok here we go again.. my 1994 vw passat has sparks coming from what appears to be the starter or is it the selonide.. are they one part bought together or seperate.. gonna fix this peice of **** myself..

Hello! The starter motor and solenoid are one unit...There are different starter motors dependent on auto or manual transmission...I'll send them both...Photo #1 is for an automatic and Photo #2 a manual...Cost is around $150...Trust me...I feel your pain...Guru...Saailer

Check ignition angles and change oil/transmisison fluid. Also I'd recommend replace spark plugs.

First you need to figure out if the problem is fire or fuel.check for spark if you have spark next check for fuel getting to the engine

Vw passat no power and no crank

Dear Sir:
See the diagrams attached and proceed with logic system troubleshooting. Look for vibration, loose wires, dirty, dust, corrosion, solenoid defective.

You can bypass the switch ignition connect one side to the positive batery and the other in the starter solenoid, must be RUN, and isolate the problem.

1995 volkswagen passat vr6 wont start the injectors are getting fuel but its not getting fuel to the engine. The injectors are getting spark and the fuel pressure is good.

if it fires then dies, you have to reset the alarm system with the key/remotes???otherwise you need to plug in the diagnostic computer(saves hours of "fun")

My check engine light has gone on about 13 different times after i bought the car. i bring it to service every time and they fix something small then right again its comes back up less than a week later...

your dealer is not reseting it to the next service due.assuming you have just had a full service.
some "dealers" have not got the vw computer to reset.

ENGINE SOMETIMES RUNS, BUT WONT GO OVER TICKOVER. ALSO SOMETIMES IT WONT START

Had same problem with my '94 passat vr6. Started ok then nothing then ok again. Thought it was the coil pack 'cause there was no spark but that didn't solve it. Turned out to be the ignition relay in the fuse block.
