This forum (in my opinion) does not contain sufficient room to fully answer your question.

Having said that, your best bet is to purchase a vehicle specific repair manual that will contain all the required info to perform this task. Shouldn't cost more than $25 at most parts stores.

It's not particularly difficult (main thing to PAY REALLY CLOSE ATTENTION TO is keeping timing marks properly aligned).

Good luck!

I have to chancge my nisan quest timing belt

This is a difficult job and you should probably have a pro do it. Don't mean to discourage, just save you some grief in the long run. If you have a lot of experience and want to try it, this is probably the best site to check out:

My 97 Nissan Quest runs to around 115000 miles in good shape, should I have to replace timing belt now? If I don't replace it now and if the timing belt is broken, will it damage the engine? Thanks, Frank

You should have the timing belt replaced right away. You're vehicles mileage is right on time for it. Not doing so could cause catastrophic engine failure. Then you're looking at $1000's.

Looking for Diagram and steps for replacing timing belt on 1997 Nissan Quest GXE

This is a major job and not advised for a beginner without guidence, If your dead set on doing it yourself, make sure you have someone to fall back on if you make mistakes. I would suggest that you buy a workshop manual from a parts store and follow the instructions from there, $20 well spent. Good luck and safe driving.

I need instructions on how to replace a timing belt on a 97' chevy cavilier, 2.4l

Try the autozone.com website and register the car. It doesn't cost anything and it will give you access to an online repair manual for the car. The steps and procedures for changing the timing belt can be found there. Hope this helped and best wishes.

I need to change the water pump on my nissan Quest 1996. How should i go about doing that?

Hello and thank you for using FixYa!

To replace the water pump, the front engine timing belt would need to be removed. This is a very big job and should be done by someone who is familiar with how timing belt jobs are done.

Thanks Jay!
