i have a 2002 Avalanche with the same issue. The roaring noise is loud when going straight and turning right. The roar goes away when making a hard left turn. The roar is present at low speeds and louder at higher speeds.

-Base on your information the Is the Left side. Do not quest that is the bearing. Or Open window and listen when you make turn, where is the noise come from?
-Is this car front wheel drive...? Of so possibly the CV Joint.
-If rear wheel drive the problem is the bearing.

Good Luck

Front wheels make a whirring sound Is this a wheel bearing or could it be c v joint

if it changes when turning right or left it is a wheel bearing if noise does not change when turning try rotating tires from front to rear and see if it goes away as it may just be tire noise

2001 malibu humms and makes noise when turning left but not the turning right

This is typical of a wheel bearing that is going out. I would imagine that it is your right front, but it could be either side. It is a safety issue as it helps to hold your wheel to your car so get it to a mechanic quickly.

Will the front driveshaft cause humming if it is free wheeling

The noise your hearing is most likely a hub bearing It will look like axle shaft is moving because the bearing is what the axle sits into if the noise changes when driving and turn wheel to left and right if so if you turn left and noise changes then your right frt bearing is bad and vise a versa.

Humming noise passengers side front end goes away when turning left

sounds like a wheel bearing in your right front. apparently, there are different types of bearing setups for this vehicle, depending on wheter it's 2 or 4 wheel drive. when you are turning, you unload the faulty bearing partially, and the noise quiets down. bet it gets noisier when you turn the other way. the noise probably also changes pitch with vehicle speed. get it checked, as this can cause more serious damage, and left alone for too long can allow the wheel to come off completely!

Recently noticed when driving over 40mph, I hear a loud humming like tire tread noise, coming from the front. When I'm turning right it gets worse. Turn left and it virtually vanishes. Is this the...

yes.this means the left wheel bearing is bad, because when you turn right the pressure is pushing down on the left wheel causing noise and when you turn left the pressure then pushes down on the right side removing pressure from the left side causing noise to stop.. this is why when you turn one way or the other the noise stops and starts.

Noise in front wheel how do i know its the wheel bearing?

if the tires are not rough or cupped then it would be a bearing. If you steer right and it gets louder, 90% of the time it is the left one . Turning right puts more vehicle weight to the left. if it gets louder turning to left it is the right bearing. Tire noise wont change a lot when turning.
