Question about 2004 Mini Cooper

1 Answer

Yellow (circled arrow) around a yellow triangle

I just bought my 2004 Mini Coop today. While I've had a BLAST driving that sharp little car I noticed this evening that I had a light on on the center bottom of my speedometer. It's a yellow arrow that is circled around a yellow triangle. I have no manual book yet and I have no idea what TLC that my new/used mini needs. There are several things that I just don't know what they mean... any place I can download a manual?

Thanks in advance.

That light is the traction control device that's been turned "off". It also comes on if the traction control is engaged. On my it can be turned on and off by the switch next to the drivers window toggle. could it be you hit this switch? If it stays on in spite of the switch, could be a wheel sensor. Doesn't hurt performance (could say it helps performance if it's off) but tire life and driving in rain and snow make it useful to have it functioning.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I recently had a 100,000 major service on my 2004 TL. Within a couple days I noticed a pronounced smell of burning oil. I have since noticed a puddle of oil has formed under the car and just today there...

It's probably OK to drive. I imagine they failed to get the oil filter properly seated and you're getting a little leak there. DO BE SURE to check the oil level before you drive it and add if necessary.

The dial should come up slowly to just a hair above the center point. This should happen within the first few minutes of driving.
