keeps cranking but eventually starts without adding fuel directly into the throttle body. sometimes i have to push on the gas to help it out. i replaced the fuel filter to narrow down the problem and it did not fix, what could be the problem?
-   I recently stopped to pick up a couple of things and came out to leave and turned the ignition over and it wouldn't start, tried it again a couple of times and then it finally started got it home, and the next morning it wouldn't start at all.Are you supposed to here the fuel pump when you turn the key? help!!! thanks-   jzak3
One: the cheapest way to start narrowing it down is Fuel filter.. its under the driver or passenger side front seats along the bottom.. if your not to savvy go to a auto parts place and ask them for help its a very cheap fix.
Two: Blazers are notorious for what they call a "fuel pressure regulator" failure. inside there is a little rubber bladder that eventually ruputures and will let raw gas into the intake manifold. depending on which engine you have W or TBI your able to replace the part itself. On the W engine you have the replace the whole Fuel injection CPI (central point injection) that's expensive 500 +.. and labor at a shop.
Three: The whole CPI needs to be replaced. Gm are idiots and use plastic tubes to connect to the fuel injectors which eventually like everything plastic on a car fail. and leak into the manifold. that would require a new fuel injection system which is Very expensive.
Four: Injectors needs cleaning or replacing. Eh cheap 40-60 dollar parts.. its a nozzle.. but the catch here is labor at the shop that's what drags the cat in.
Five: 02 sensor & plugs. Your 02 sensor will regulate the flow of air and gas based on what it senses and if its not functional it messes it up and you will encounter rough idle and surging.
Those are the most common thing i have experienced with my blazer and others. There are so many other things that come into play but those are the most common thing that happen to a blazer hope i was a help.
The fuel pressure regulators can be replaced separately on the 1996 and newer 4.3 "W" CSFI engine but not on older CFI engine where the injector and regulator are only serviced as an assembly. You will have to remove the upper intake and then all you have to do is remove the clip and replace the regulator.
