Question about 2005 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Radio issues The volume on the radio was not working. It wouldn't even show that it was going up or down. I changed the fuses out and now the radio will not come on at all. No lights, no sound, no nothing. I don't know where the power supply to the radio is. Any advice???

To get your radio working again you would most likely need to go to a ford dealer for help. Your radio probably has a security system which means you will need to button in a security number to get the radio working again.
So far as the volume control problem is concerned canginging the fuses would not normally cure this. As the cause of the fault is most likely a technical reason it would be best to take it to a service agent.

Radio not working

sounds to me like the radio lost its pass word code.
(or a power amp fuse is blown)
check fuses. , this time. more carefully.
some radios go to now amp mode, will tune but are in pass word mode.
if you drain the battery , this happens everytime.
oldest story in the world this.....

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/obtaining-anti-theft-radio-code-1350588/

if all power pins on the radio have 12vdc and if radio has external amp
there are like 4 or 5 radio options on new jeeps.
so if it has an external amp,it too has power pins, if they have 12vdc
then the fuse is not blown. (the fsm shows the wiring and fuses, read the FSM)
if the radio is still dead, it can be the radio code issue.
if the fuses are good , its Jeep dealer time.

Reset radio

wireing fault try a voltage meter on the live wires if there is nothing then go back to the fuse box try the votage meter there if there is power going to that point then replace the live wire or you could try running the radio off the ignition live wire to see if that works
and try the other fuse box in the engine bay

98 Cadillac Deville : when put into reverse the lights won't work. It's not the fuse or the bulb. Also the radio won't work. It's missing a volume changer button but it has one on the...

You indicate the 10A PARK/REV FUSE in the engine compartment fuse/relay center is OK. When reverse is selected, output from the body control module (BCM) closes the reverse relay contact to apply power to the back-up lamps. There could be something wrong with the reverse relay or the BCM.

If the "won't work" problem with the radio is only lack of volume control, the steering wheel control which connects to the radio through a clock spring may have failed

Volume control for radio/disc player does not respond. Is it a fuse?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If it was the fuse, the entire radio wouldn't work. You either have a bad volume switch or there is no power to the switch. Check the wiring for the volume switch. Perhaps, test the wires with a schematic if you don't know which one it is. If it has power, the issue is inside the radio.

Sounds like the head unit is bad on your audio system. You would need to replace the entire unit. I'd recommend an aftermarket stereo instead of another Ford stereo.
