Question about 1995 Pontiac Firebird

95 LT1 formula firebird

I was drivning the car and everything was fine, then gauges suddenly fell flat and engine began to spudder. I let off the gas and it picked up, but whenever I pushed the peddle the engine would start to die. Finally it died and now will not start at all. It turns over and gauges work, but it won't fire. Everyone I know with a code reader only reads from 96 and up. Any sugestions would be great. thanks

I have a 93 firmula and it did the same thing....My problem was the Electronic ignition. The 95 has a vaccum line running from the ignition to the intake. The 93's don't. It is suppose to help pull mooisture out of the unit, not sure how well it works. But this is more than likely the problem. They are a pain to fix, because of the lack of space. The other thing it could be is the computer. My computer went shortly after I was having this same problem. But after I changed the unit it ran great....Just make sure you buy this part NEW and not used or rebuilt...The rebuilds are not very good....

If it has sat and not run for awhile...the fuel could be dirty...add a bottle of HEET to help eliminate any water build up...also add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank...may need 2 bottles...last check would be the control module for a spark test...

I have a 95 firebird formula LT1 that will sputter and want to die. This will only happen if I drive for about 30 minutes then stop and shut off the car for 15 minutes. Once I start it after that it bogs...

map censor... manafold absolute pressure censor.. the mecanics have a hard time finding this censor it is secondary to the motor circuts but it will cause the motor to die then restart in a short time...$30.00 autozone

Overheating

Thermostat is not opening, or is installed backwards is why the hose stays cold. Make sure the nugget is facing the engine block. If this is correct, make sure the belt is installed correctly and is rotating the water pump in the right direction. The fans are turned on by the PCM. You will need to get a diagnostic chart and follow it to find out what is going wrong.

Need new ecm for 1991 formula firebird

YOU MIGHT TRY A WRECKING YARD. YOU NEED THE EXACT MATCH TO YOUR ENGINE IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE CORRECT. THE CAR MAY BE WRECKED , BUT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE SHOULD BE FINE.

I have seen on manyengines that using high performance plugs can cause problems like your's. If you used split-fire's or platinum 4 plugs change them back to OEM sytle plugs and your problem should be solved. If you used OEM plugs check that none are loose or cross threaded as this can cause a loss of compression.

Let me know what type of plugs you iinstalled and I can try to assit further.
