Question about 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser
When applying the brakes there is a metal scraping sound from the rear back left tire. It the exact same sound when brake pads are worn down...however there is NO sound from the front brakes.
My rear brakes were making the same sound for over one year. My rear shoes were hard as a stone or glazed. The pads did not look worn, but they made the medal-on-medal sound when I braked. It was pretty loud.
I replaced the brakes shoes and the problem went away. I replaced the shoes myself in about a hour. They were not hard to figure out.

I am having the same problem and it's driving me crazy!!! I have heard that this problem is very common with the cruisers and there is NO recall or anything to fix it except trade-in... I read one thing that said they used Thermal-ceramic brake pads and such and the problem has not returned so... Good luck
