Thank you very much for your help. I will dig deeper into the wiring harness. I see where the attach to the body and it looks like it is not broken or anything. again thank you I don't have the funds to take it to the shop.

Check the ground wire.

Testimonial: "Very Helpful"

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2011

can you please tell me where the ground wire is or goes?

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2011

You may want to see a wiring schematic on your vehicle, but normally each light grounds to the frame not far from the light. Since you already found out which wire had the 12 volts, it should be the other wire.

On a 1995 chevy g20 van aren't all four headlights suppose to be active on high beams?

mostly no. there are two beams circuits A high beam (2 globes one each side) and a low beam circuit ( 2 bulbs one on each side) The globes should be A4 bulbs which have 3 pins on the back One pin is high beam and the other pin is for low beam while the middle pin is the earth pin for both sides.

My low beams won't work on my 2001 Mazda Miata. The High Beams work and the fog lights also work, just the low beams not working. I checked the relay under the hood on the passenger side and it looks...

It happened to me, both low beam filaments in both new at same time (happens a lot so I'm told) The earths are in a stoopid place under the left headlight.

Did you check the ground wire for that light? Using your voltmeter, put the positive probe on the battery terminal and your negative lead to the pin/socket that provides ground for the lamp. If you are reading 0 volts, you need to check the ground wire for proper grounding.

I need to replace the wiring to my headlights in my 1990 mitsubishi lancer se, however I am unsure which wires are the earth, high and low beams.

if you have H4 headlight bulbs ( with 3 pins) looking at them from the front of the vehicle the pin on the right hand side of the bulb is earth, the center one is low beam & the one on the left hand side of the bulb is high beam, if you are still unsure use a test light to check......hope this helps.......cheers.

I am sure that a 12 Volt bulb means it needs 12 Volts. Since you changed the bulb to the other side, why not check the voltage in the working side and see what it reads?

Sometimes the turnstalk can interfere with the lighting. Try pushing the Hazard switch several times and see if the headlights straighten out. I read that too much goes through the turnstalk and that using the Hazards can derail a contact inside the stalk.

If this does not help, you may need a headlight relay in the powerbox. One contact may be dirty or burned down for the wire it feeds. Unless you have a single wire feeding both low beams to the headlights, I would bet the left and right side come out directly through the relay.

Low Beam Drivers Side doesn't work ... low voltage,

Power for the headlights on the Left side (High and low beam.) comes from the same fuse... The ORANGE wire and the ORANGE/BLACK are the same, they connect in the harness. If you only lack the 12v to make the light work connect them at the headlight assembly.

If your low beam also lacks ground the Left low beam ground is shared with the right low beam ground... Run a wire from left low beam DARK BLUE to right low beam DARK BLUE/WHITE.

If its not working now then your cursed, seek a witch doctor.

Headlight low beam does not work on passenger side of vehicle, but does when switched to driver side?

Make sure the connection at the lamp is clean and corrosion free. If corroded, clean with an electrical contact cleaner or baking soda and water then retest. Check the high-beam operation. If the light works on high-beam then you have a wiring problem on the low-beam power circuit. If neither the high nor the low-beam works then you likely have a ground circuit problem. Check the pins at the lamp connector using a Digital Volt/Ohm Meter and the appropriate wiring diagram. Voltage should be within 0.5 volts of battery voltage. Resistance to ground should be less than 5 Ohms with the ignition key off. These tests will give you a better idea as to which circuit is faulty.
