Question about 1990 Toyota 4Runner

Distributor I have no power to my distributor. Have power to the coil. but nothing to the distributor. Its a parts truck just need to start it.

My car wont start cos no firing to plugs. i bought coil and modul but nothing what now?

check for codes, if there is one it will help to know were to start diagnoses. it could be crank sensor. check for power and grounds at the coil and ignition module. just some place to start.

1989 Chevy 2500 pickup. Two months ago I was driving and truck just died. After it cooled off it would crank for maybe 5 seconds then would not crank. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. Still...

You can have the coil and module tested at most auto parts stores. The module provides the ground signal to the coil. It could also be the pickup coil in the bottom of the distributor.

My 1990 Chevrolet Truck isn't getting a spark... I've replaced the distributor & plugs, cap, rotor, coil, ecu, and everything... Still nothing

You need a test light if you are not getting any spark your start is power at the primary part of the coil then you will need to check for pulse at the negative of the coil, you have a connection problem here is the most famous failure the coil connection has a tendency to spread and not make contact have someone crank the vehicle and you wiggle the coil connection see if that help other than that you need a test light your problem is in the wire

Not getting spark

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. I would suggest to go ahead and start testing some parts. Check the distributor, plugs, coils, wires, dist.cap, rotor. Make sure the cap is fine and the rotor turns, if it has a distributor. Check any coil packs also. Usually, you will have a check engine light on. If so, get it scanned for error codes. It could be a cam sensor. Check your timing belt/chain. It may be your computer. You need to test what you can and start an elimination process. You need a voltage meter to test for power. You could have a bad wire in the cam sensor or the distributor not getting power. Make sure to check and see if the part is getting power. It may be not, thus giving you your problem.

My distributor isnt getting any fire

if it has the little grey retangle on the side of the distributor that is the ignition module. chances are that is your problem. u need a special tool to do it. but both are cheap and readily available at your local parts house. it is either that or the coil is bad. autozone can test both.

We have power to the coil but nothing to the distributor what could it be doing

Need to connect a spark plug directly to the output of the coil. This is the one going into the center of the distributor. If you have spark then the rotor and the distributor cap needs to be replaced. If there is no spark then your coil is bad. It needs a replacement. Hope this can help.

I have a 1998 chevy silverado when trying to start it it acts like its out of gas and just keeps cranking and will not start. i tryed spraying starting fluid it carb thinking it might be fule pump but...

Check to see if it has spark. It may be having a problem with the distributor. If you have put fuel to it to no avail, then you probably dont have spark. Could be the cap / rotor, the coil, the pickup in the distributor, or power going to the coil or distributor. Check for spark and if you dont have any, make sure you have power to the coil / distributor. If you do then try a new coil cap and rotor. Hardest part would be the pickup in the distributor if thats bad.

Take off the distributor cap. Check the star wheel that is splined to the distributor shaft that the pick-up coil uses. Make sure this wheel is not loose on the distributor shaft. It is right above the pick-up. If it is loose, replace the distributor. This is a common problem. If it needs one, all the part stores stock the distributor.
