I have a 96 Ply. Voy. 3.0 with 197652 mi. My oil light came on and I pulled over to a station and checked and showed oil on the tip of stick. I put 1 qt of oil in and it brought it to 1/2 low so I put the other qt in. I drove about 1 mioe and the light came on again as I pulled into my drive. Next day I check my stick and it was bone dry. I filled it to the full mark and looked to see if it was leaking underneath..nope. I started the engine and left it running for 4o minutes and seen no drippings, checked the tail pipe and nothing buy hot dry air. Where is this oil going. I change my oil every 2500 miles.

What would leak oil onto the starter

the oil leak could be a bad valve cover gasket needing replacement, a head gasket leaking oil, a leaking intake gasket and oil running down along the engine block and dripping. it could be an oil pressure switch that is leaking. it is near the starter while driving or engine running can spray oil onto the starter. unless the oil leak is very bad and has been leaking a long time onto the starter will not cause it to act like a dead battery even then not likely. have a starter draw test down to check condition of the starter.

2006 VW Jetta 2.5 has a bad oil leak. Dealer says it is a bad air pump. Is this possible?

You won't have a bad oil leak from a bad air pump... unless the dealer means "Turbocharger" when they say "air pump". A turbocharger DOES have an oil supply, and a leak from it means you need repair very badly.

I notice a oil leak and I think I coming from gasket. Also, if oil sending unit bad would I cause to lose pressure?

If the oil sender switch is bad, they can leak badly and cause your oil pressure gauge to read incorrectly. Could also possibly make you lose some pressure, but only extremely bad leaks would make a significant change in pressure. You need at least 6 PSI to run the motor without damage. (most vehicles)

I have a 93 explorer and the tranny or oil is leaking really bad I think it's the tranny because it only leaks when in gear and its a bad leak it makes a line when I back up and take off or just sit s

Those A5 trannies are junk and can set the vehicle on fire in less than 5 minutes with low fluid. Red fluid is tranny, oil is oil. Rear seal-oil- big repair. Tranny coolant pipes-Tranny fluid-small repair. Replace filter, fluid, and gasket-it's probably over due-and check again for leaks. rear tranny seal leak, average size job.. Never use the stop leak! Throwing flour on the tranny works better-Just kidding.

Will a 1995 Buick Skylark leak oil if the Oil Sending Unit is burnt or bad?

Yes the sending unit will leak oil if it's bad. It will leak where the electrical plug clicks into the unit. If you disconnect the plug and remove the unit, you can see on the plug end where the oil leaks thru.

1996 cavalier bad oil leak when running

Overfilled is not good but it would have to be very high to cause leak,There are numerous places in rear of engine that could be leaking.could be leaking from rear of intake, the oilpump drive o ring, but most likly leaking from rear main seal that seals at the rear of the crankshaft and the transmission will need to come out to access this seal. you will need to have the oil leak diagnosed to locate the exact spot.

The oil is leaking from my car i think that the oil pump is damaged because oil is leaking very bad

Unless you've run it out of engine oil because of the bad leaks , oil leaks are are not a sign of a bad oil pump , what is a sign of a bad oil pump is low or no oil pressure either due to lack of oil for the pump to pick up in the oil sump or either a mechanical failure of the oil pump, in which case you would have some internal damage to your engine. In either case if you plan to keep the car then by all means have the oil leaks investigated and repaired so the the oil stays inside the motor instead of the outside and on the ground making your driveway look horrible...
