The timing marks are on the backside of the gears, there are the timing marks and there are the assembly marks. the timing marks are the two large dimples, they have to be lined up with the crankshaft at TDC, the assembly marks are used for ease of installation, I hope you put in the 10mm bolt in the spring loaded cam to keep it preloaded, look at the gears one them is a two piece gear which is spring loaded this is to keep the cam gear noise at a minimum, the assembly marks are there so that when the service bolt is in the gear it can be rotated, the assembly marks are the two small dots and one single small dot, the small dot has to be lined up between the two dots, after the cams are installed this way the service bolt can be removed and the cams rotated until the two large dots line up, the cams are now both at TDC.

How to set tining after replacing timing chain on 1997 chrysler lhs

Hello mataylor990: My name is Roger and I will answer for you. According to All Data and Mitchell repair manuals. Once you have the Timming marks set properly at the dears. There is no further Timming to set. They manufacture does not supply a static Timming for a light. Timming is controlled by the PCM.
Please rate the quality of the answer. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Timing marks

you should have timming marks on the front engine block. if you see it you will need a timming light to set it very cheap to buy. if you do not see any timming marks and you have a distributer losen it a little but with the car running. now with the car running turn the distruber left or right until you hear and feel the car idle high. once you feel it idle low go back up until it idle high and keep it there and tighten the distruber back. turn the car off and try starting it back up. it should start right on time with the correct timming and idle. good luck
