Driver side front axle seal

Wipe the area around the seal clean with a rag, then run it a bit and check the seal. If fresh fluid is evident obviously from that seal, it is bad. The seal itself is easy, just pry it out and tap a new one evenly into place. But the axle has to come out of there first.
Buy a Haynes repair manual for your vehicle to get the axle removal procedure. If you are experienced working on cars, it should be fairly easy. The big axle nut has to be loosened and removed, so shaft can be pushed out of the wheel hub. Often the tie rod needs removing, and the lower ball joint disassembled. But get the repair procedure, if you want to do it yourself. Good luck.

I have a dodge caravan 96. Motor is 3.3. I have a transmission leak. On the driver side of the transmission. I replace the seal, but the leak continue through the CV joint.

If it is leaking grease out of the cv joint, you will have to replace the rubber cv boot or eventually, the entire cv axle, if it gets worn because of lost grease and no lubrication.

I have a 2003 Z-71 that is leaking at the passenger side front axle. What is involved in replacing this seal? I have all tools needed, (spring compressor, ect). Should I replace the bushing when changing...

In most cases just replacing the seal will repair the leak. Check the seal surface on the axle hub to insure that the surface is not damaged and will damage the new seal.

you need to pull off wheels, brakes, rotor /unit hub bearing, both axles and intermediate shaft, as well as the vac disconnec ton the front axle tube. if only the right side leaks then only then only pull the right axle and intermediate shaft and vac disco. it is a trick with a miller tool to replace the seal. the left side seal is inside the diff and the carrier has to come out to replace it. pete
