You need a 15mm wrench use the open end of the wrench and put it on the nipple on the top of the tensioner pulley assembly then push it back it will release the tension enough to slip it off the altenator

How do i replace the alternator on a 2000 tundra 4.7L 4x2 non serpentine configuration

I presume the serpentine belt is in the way. First, disconnect the battery terminal. Then make sure the serpentine belt diagram is readable and remove the serpentine belt. Then release the tension on the alternator belt and remove all the bolts and wiring.

How do you replace the fan belt tensioner on a 2000 lincoln continental

I`m pretty sure your belt tensioner pully is just held on with a couple bolts.Remove your serpentine belt, your main belt.look at the pulley see where the bolts are that hold it on and remove them. They are spring loaded so when u take it off make sure you have the new one to put on because once you remove it ,it is no good and have to put the new one on.

I need a serpentine belt diagram for 2000 expedition 4.6 engine.

You will need a 1/2" breaker bar with a handle at least 18" long. Locate the belt tensioner and release enough tension so that the belt can be safely displaced from the alternator or any other convenient appliance. before removing the belt, make sure you make good notes on how the belt is to go back on ( or you may simply refer to the diagram under the hood). Remove the old belt. Thread the new belt into place, getting it ready for the last appliance in line. Displace the tensioner enough to safely attach the belt to the last pulley in line. Release the tensioner and remove the breaker bar. If the belt is correctly installed (make sure it is) then the job is done.

A further suggestion. I had a problem releasing the tension enough to reinstall the serpentine belt so I used an 18" long, 1" (id) black iron pipe as an extension for my breaker bar. It makes a world of difference and one person, even an old guy, can then de-tension the belt and slip the belt over the alternator pulley.

You will probably have to loosen the fan (the 13mm bolts on the fan clutch, not the 10mm going into the water pump) in order to get a 1/2" drive breaker bar on the belt tensioner. I recommend also removing the right (passenger side - on your left as you're leaning over the radiator!) idler pulley - a single 13mm bolt. Having that pulley out of the way makes it POSSIBLE to snake the belt down to the A/C compressor. Once the new belt is wound around all the lower components, heave over on that breaker bar (in the belt tensioner) and slip the belt over the top pulley last. Congrats! Take a sip of your fav beverage, and now have your buddy push on that breaker bar one last time while you put the idler pulley back in place with the 13mm bolt.
FYI, that idler pulley bearing goes out before anything else and may be the reason you're replacing the belt in the first place. $22 at AutoZone.
It only takes about five minutes to replace the belt, but it takes 30 minutes to get the fan out of the way and back on.

Replacing a serpentine belt on a 2000 Alero -

Not bad to do, first check and make sure the routing belt label is there before you remove belt should be a label under the hood or on radiator support, if not draw a picture so it goes on the same way. To remove belt on center of tensioner pulley there's a bolt fit a wrench and turn clockwise to release tension remove belt while holding tension.

2000 f250 diesel, how do you release the tension on the belt?

There is a tensioner idler somewhere on the engine. Use a wrench and rotate the bolt in the center so that the pulley moves away from the belt, then use the other hand to slide the serpentine belt out from under the idler.
Slowly release the tensioner.

03 vw bettle serptine belt

Replacing the serpentine belt on a New beetle is not easy as it was on the old one.

First you need to remove the Water tank, and undo the hoses near to the water tank.
Then you remove the three bolts securing the tensioner with a 13mm socket wrench, and release the tensioner.
Then you replace the belt.

The procedure is explained here on pages 2 to 5
, do not go over page 5, the rest of the procedure is on replacing the timing belt, and you risk to damage your car by touching the timing belt.

Once you replace serpentine belt, ensure that the pumps is running, that the belt is well in tension, and that is solidly there, not slipping out.

All the repairs must be done or supervised personally by a qulified mechanic.
