The light that has come on is indicating a low oil pressure. I don't believe the problem is related to your steering wheel. My recommendation is you check the oil in your engine to verify the level and correct if necessary. As for your power steering issue, again, check the level on the power steering resovoir, and correct if necessary. If the level is low for power steering fluid, top up and SLOWLY turn your wheel all the way from left to right several times. If that does not correct the problem, then I suspect a power steering pump.
I am curious to know, is that light that came on, the only one that illuminated?
hi, this one is easy, fill to level turn steering from left to right, for about 5 times each and if working a noise will be heard. recheck level. reson for turning the steering wheel it forces air out of system. gerry
sounds like the pump is going out, check fluid, check belt, usually when u have to run at high rpm like that sounds like the pump is weak, higher rpms turns pump faster making fluid run through quicker, slower rpm fluid not pumping enough fluid to keep pump working, i believe you need power steering pump, if it goes ot while driving, it would be like driving a car from the 40 or 50s. hard to turn, you may even cause a wreck, you could get hurt or somebody else
First question is : Was the fluid added marked as poere steering fluid? If so, it's odd that the steering would suddenly become hard. What I would do is disconnect the return line (the one that has a hose clamp on it, not a pressure fitting) Drain the system there and refill with fresh fluid. Since the fluid has not been changed, you may want to do this twice after running it for a few minutes between changes. If this does not restore proper operation then the pump or steering rack has an internal problem and will need to be diagnosed by someone with experience.
is the fluid circulating well , you could see it through the power steering fuel level after removing the rod , if not then you got proplems with the pump ,if the fluid is circulating the the rack and union pistons may have ruined
