Question about 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora

1 Answer

Cranking why does my car crank so long before it starts after it sits for a period of time, I was told that the fuel filter could not be changed because it was tight that they were afraid the fuel lines would brake. When the car starts it runs great with no problems. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHY THANKS CARL

Hello Carl
I would say It sounds just like the fuel filter, And I believe that Napa sell a kit you can buy just because its a problem on all those olds, I suggest You look for a Mechanic that can do the job for you, Some people just don't want to do the extra work, We do it all the time in our shop, If you were in upper Mich, I would be more than happy to fix your car. Carl I hope this can help you out Call Napa or another Parts store or even a olds dealership. I truly think that is your problem I have seen it many times before, I have done this before to carl Is to take a piece of Plastic and a couple of bread ties, Now wrap both end of the fitting on your fuel filter with the plastic, now use the bread ties to hold plastic in place and fill the plastic around both fitting with JB 80 or another lube with a Plastic spray tube on it push it thru the top on the wrapping and fill it up with oil repeat the oil fill every couple of days 4 or 5 for a couple of weeks and then the fuel filter should come off without breaking the lines. Thats just one Idea that may work before going the other route, If you need more explaination get back to me I will check back later today. I sure hope that help you out Carl. Bear001 Thanks

1992 F350-7.3 4wheel drive is hard to start after changing fuel filter and fuel pump. Why is it hard to start?

indicates fuel leak back and fuel pressure drop
check filter installation for seal not sitting properly, loose fuel line fitting , pump installed correctly (flow wise ), filter installed correctly (flow wise)
air getting in to fuel lines
the thing you are looking for is indicated by the initial hard start but when started runs ok ( good fuel to the engine eventually) and then by the fact that if the engine is allowed to sit for a long period the problem returns meaning that the fuel pressure is not being held
could even be a problem fuel pressure regulator allowing the fuel to bypass ( no pressure =hard starting) then gets enough pressure to run ok but allows that pressure to drain off over time

When i got my used 1989 Buick Lesabar I was told the cadillic converter was clogged which was causing the car to knock and staul out you could only drive it for a short distance when it would cut off and...

Bro,
This is a model which should get a good attention on all of its parts. You should have a detailed idea on your car's parts, its condition, workability, etc.
So firstly try to figure out any kind of leakages from crank parts, gear/clutch assembly. This is easy to find when the car is parked for long time.
Then look out for any broken pipes, tubes, seals, cracks.
Any oil leakage into combustion chamber, plugs, etc.
Check plugs by touching the car body while cranking!!
Then check the distributor cables and the distributor.
I think this all about your Power lines, fuel pumps.
So please try and rate it!!!

Wont start

the fuel lines may be leaking back into the gastank try to turn the key to the on but dont start the car. leave in the on position for 5-7 seconds do this a few times and then try to crank it. if it cranks you may have a bad fuel pump and or clogged fuel filter. change fuel filter first because its the cheapest. hope this helps.

Crank sensor

let vechicle sit for a while could be flooded fuel injectors leaking.when fuel injectors become dirty clogged they will leak when you turn off the engine.see if engine restart if its sits while.if car still dont crank check for spark.no spark could be faulty ignition module or crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensor.have vechicle code scan first before buying new parts.meant to say bad engine coolant temperature sensor will cause no start hot engine and clogged air filter.

2000 Blazer Cranks, Won't Start

First of all, a diagnostic wont tell them that there is arcing involved. I am thinking it is your crank sensor. It expands and retracts in different weather situations. It should make contact in all weather situations.

Car cranks but willl not start and has plenty of gas

can only say is to check the power at the fuel pump to see if it is getting power. it is the gray wire.voltage should be there when cranking. and stop when not cranking. if this is the case, then the fuel pump is bad. if not then the fuel pump relay may be bad.

03 mach 1 cranks no start

A 6 year old car with only 5,900 miles on it would indicate that it was sitting for long periods of time. I would check the fuel filter first if it does not seem to be getting fuel.

I would also check the fuel pump shut off switch, should be located in the trunk on the drivers side. (owners manual will tell you for sure)
