The only practical way to check the ignition coil is to check for continuity across the two terminals of the low voltage side of the coil. New coils run between $15 and $30. Don't forget to check the ignition control module too. Auto parts stores used to be able to test them for free, but I am not sure they still do.

I am driving a Nissan Np200 2012 Model, 16V. The car has no power and diagnosis could not detect the problem. Number 2 & 3 plugs does not spark. What could be the exact problem?

The spark plugs that are not sparking will be the most likely reason for the loss of power. You will need to find out why they are not sparking.
Start from the spark plugs. Check the condition and age of the spark plugs. If in doubt replace them all. Do the same for the plug leads attached to the plugs. Next you will have to check the igniton coils. On you vehicle i think the plug leads and ignition coils are all one piece. Get a good mechanic or an auto electrician to test the coils to make sure they are working correctly..

Random shutdown

check battery connections at battery and starter ends. Check fuel filter, fuel pump relay, or maybe fuel pump is too weak to run engine at speed or under load. Can be coil or igniton module, map sensor, crank/camshaft sensors. Your description is pretty generic, so it possibly could be one of those "search till you find it" type repairs. Keep this in mind: In order for an engine to run it must have three things. Fuel, air, and spark. Air is easy to get. Fuel problems could only be the relay, pump, fuse, injectors. Spark is more hard to get, as you also need spark at the right time. So check igniton last, it gets real costly as you go. Coil, ignition module, any and all sensors ect.

No spark on one igniton coil of 2000 Lesabre buick

Hi Glen, If the problem persists after replacing the coil I believe you must look at the cables for an internal broken circuit. Also check the ground connection. If all else fails check the computer. Regards John

Car won't start, getting fire to igniton coil but no spark

If it's getting fire to coil then it would be either distributor cap / rotor, bad coil or plugs or wires.
Take off cap first, look for cracks, look at rotor for signs of corosion or being burnt, next look for cracked plug wires, finally take coil to auto part store and have it tested.

I have a 1986 ford ranger 2.9L

Check with a DC volt meter or test light to make sure that the coil is getting proper voltage when the ignition is switched on. You can also OHM out the coil to see if it is burnt open or shorted out.
