Loss of power and gas mileage due to vaccum leak. looked at all vaccum lines and can not see any leaks but the cruise will not maintain and the damper for the hvac will drop until load is lessed from the engine. I have just changed the oil,filter-air filter-fuel filter-spark plugs and have changed sum questionable vac hoses and the problem is still there bad.

Will defective vaccum hoses on front axle effect the way the engine runs on a 2000 kia sportage?

Vacuum leaks work like this. A small hose breaks, you don't notice a engine problem, but the gas mileage goes down a bit. As the leak progresses, mileage goes down more. A large leak you notice the engine runs rough at idle. Combine this with clogged air, fuel filters and clogged catalytic converters and it will start killing the engine at stops and eventually go down the road. But to answer your question, No the line going to the diff, wont affect the engine performance. Because the PCM will compensate for the small leak. More fuel.

1998 nissan maxima reads EGR flow maintenance on diagnostic and cuts off sometime when i come to a stop or let off the gas?!?!?!?!?!

A good vacuum chamber doesn't mean the egr valve isn't sticking or leaking.

The recorded fault might have nothing at all to do with the periodic stalling. The management system should maintain the idle at the programmed speed by constantly adjusting the idle air flow through the idle air valve or equivalent. Perhaps it is sticking or not responding quickly enough or perhaps it takes too long to establish a stable idle due to other factors such as poor injector spray patterns or a tired oxygen or other sensor...

My car idles way to fast. what could be the problem?

you most likely have a vaccum hose leak, when the engine senses a lean condition due to the adition of air thru the leak the computer will adjust the fuel to compensate, making it idle higher than normal, look for cracked or broken vaccum lines, hope this helps..

My 1985 Porsche 928 S4 cruise con trol activates but drops off @ 1 mile/hr, and then surges heavy to make it back up. this is a rythmic pulsing that goes on to maintain speed. should I be looking...

What you are describing is a vacuum leak in one of the vacuum lines for the cruise control or a bad cruise control vacuum servo. I myself am a former owner of a 1979 Porsche 928 5 speed, a very beautiful and extremely powerful stock automobile. Good luck.

The ac works for a little bit then blows hot air

make sure the cooling fan is working, if it doesnt cool the condensor the air will get hot, the other thing is to see if its low on freon or if the compressor loses power or the cluth stops turning due to power loss or bad clutch that gets hot.hope this helps, another important thing is theres a vacuum line on the rear of the intake that goes bad the line controls the heat door , start engine and listen for hissing look and feel at rear of intake for a bad hose its a common problem also, take a good look use your hand to move the hoses around to see it they leak vaccum , hope this helps.

My cruise control will keep kicking out everytime I set it sometimes it will go for awhile and other times it will kick out every 2 sec's does it alot when it rains it seems.

check connections at cruise head in engine compartment, also check for vaccum leaks on engine, if everything looks good and there are no vaccum leaks then you may have bad cruise head or bad switchs or the wiring to switchs. good luck.

Possible vacumn line leak in line to gas tank. where is the line?

The line runs from the purge canister to the fuel tank along the frame, what makes you think you have a leak? any kind of a vaccum leak would make the idle go up in rpm,s or the hvac with blower on would go from where ever you set it to defrost (default setting with no vaccum) if you are just getting a check engine light of small evap leak 99% of the time it the gas cap o-ring worn or cap not tight.

2001 Dodge Dakota 4WD Quad Cab: engine RPM's too high/jumpy

could be a lot of things. I personally would start with your vacuum lines... check for a leak somewhere. You can do that by spraying carb cleaner (if motor tries to die, you found your leak), or it could be a sensor, likely idle air control, mas air, etc.)

The indicator light goes on, but the cruise doesnt kick in. when it was working it was not working correctly. uphill it would not maintain speed and downhill it would increase in speed.

First, there was a recall for many Ford Motor cruise controls. Have a dealer run your VIN number to see if you are included or the repair has already been made. If you look at the cruise control cable and trace it back from the linkage there should be a vacuum hose connected to the part that this cable originates from. If you have a vacuum source check both the vacuum line and the part to see if there are splits or holes leaking vacuum. Your cruise will not work properly with a leak. Any other loose vacuum lines can affect it too!
