Re: 1994 Mercury Cougar-no interior lights
The cougar as well as the thunderbird had a factory recall on the headlight switch burning up. if you take the plastic cover out and remove the switch you will probably find the connections are melted on the plug in. i am not sure if ford will still honor this recall because it was issued back in 99 or 00 or that is when i received the letter for my 93 t-bird, which had actually just started having problems with the lights similar to yours. a new switch later and i never had anymore problems. hope this helps

replace the door jamb light button, it's probably bent therefore not pushing in when door is shut, and when door is shut it grounds out, and it wld'nt effect the dome light because it's in the circuit befor the dome if this is the case and you find it's bent or crimped try to bend it back out,
Dash lights are on the same fuse as the tail lights. Dash lights not working is an indication that the tail lights are not working. The first thing to check is that the tail light fuse is not blown. Most of the time replacing the tail light fuse will restore both the tail lights and the dash/interior lights. If this is not the case you may have to trace the wires and look for a broken or unplugged wire in the harness.
If you can find your local Ford Mercury dealer online and give them the vin number for your car then they can tell you the color code for your vehicle for the inside trim tone.I hope I could help, Rate me accordingly, Thanks!!
dimmer control turned all the way will switch on interior lights, if not may want to wd40 switches that the doors engage when shut. These are small usually push button types, they do break too and are adjustable
Next to the headlight switch is a dimmer dial for the interior dash lights... if you turn it all the way up, the interior lights remain on... there is a "detent" on the dimmer. turn the interior dash lights all the way full on ...you'll feel the detent, then turn it down back past the detent a little bit...that should cancel the interior courtesy lights... wait a bit because the interior lights are sometimes on delay timers.... good luck let me know what happens.
