We tried that on the last three fill ups and that doesn't help, nozzle all the way in, part of the way in , barely in,,,it still clicks off like the tank is full. Thanks for your input though.

I have the same problem. When the tank is empty, no matter how slow I fill the tank, it clicks off at less than 1 gallon. It takes forever to fill this thing. It clicks off over 40 times NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY I fill it. It takes over 10 gallons to fill, so its not a fuel gage problem. I have tried several different gas stations, several different nozzle positions (sideways, upside down, etc) with NO LUCK. HELP   &   Thanks

How do I fix my gas tank. I put gas in but it doesn't let me pump without clicking every few seconds. It's not the adjustment of the pump where you move it and it fills.

I don't know year--make--model?
Check vent line and/or evap system. The air in the tank has to go somewhere or it will burp back up the fill tube and shut off the gas pump.

95 chevy baretta ran out of gas now wont restart with plenty of gaz

You need to check if the fuel pump (in the gas tank) is still turning on to put gas up to the engine. It's been known to happen that running out of gas can burn out the fuel pump. Manufacturers put the pump in the tank so the surrounding gas will keep the pump running cool.

Gas will not pump into tank

Sounds like the tank vent in clogged or stuck shut .

When filling gas tank on 2004 toyota corolla it keeps shutting off as if the gas tank is full, can only put in a little at a time.

When taking gas cap off give it a few seconds for the pressure to escape from the tank. Also you may not be putting the nozzle in far enough for the fume preventor(the rubber thing on the nozzle)to press down. That will make it stop pumping gas. Sometimes you have to press the rubber down when it is cold out.

Ran out of gas, Got car started for a few minutes with a gallon then conked out and won't re-start. Put some dry gas in tank in case gas can w/old gas. Maybe fuse or fuel pump? Don't know where pump is...

Could be a dirty fuel filter, or intermittent fuel pump. To test the fuel pump, put the key in the ignition, then turn it up one, not start but on, and listen near the gas tank area for a click or some type of noise. If none then it might be the fuel filter (note if you don't hear anything it doesn't necessarily mean that the pump is bad). Now as for the fuel pump, it's located under the car near the gas tank and you can easily un-clip it (be careful as it might be full of gas) and that's how to remove it. Hope this helps. Best Regards.

When I pump gas, the gas pump clicks off every few seconds or so. I can't get more than 2 gallons in the tank before it clicks off. I takes me like 10 minutes to fill my tank.

is this happening at the same pump??? Each pump has a tiny vacuum line that's located in the spout. When the gas reaches a certain level and starts to cause a vacuum, the pump shuts off

2004 chevy 2500 wont take gas into gas tank

I am having the same problem. When turning the pump on full speed it will pump for a few seconds before kicking the pump off like the tank is full even though there is no gas in the tank. I can pump gas if I barely start the pump and hold it by hand but very very slowly so it takes about 20 minutes to fill up. Its not the gas station or the way I am holding the nozzle as I have stopped 20 different places and tried every way imaginable to hold the nozzle. I have changed the filler neck, charcoal canister, and the sensor/filter that is on the side of it that I believe opens to allow fuel vapor to escape and let pressure off the tank when the truck is not running... still no luck. When I had the fuel next off there is a check valve that is made into the top next part of the tank that is spring loaded. I figured this was to keep gas from running back out in the event of a rollover and possibly keep someone from putting a hose down the next and stealing gas. At this point that is the only thing that could possibly be causing the pump to contiune to kick off every few seconds when filling up the tank. Next is to change the tank I suppose unless someone has already ran into this issue and can tell me what I need to do to fix the problem.
