Question about Pontiac LeMans

I need the small circuit board that runs the blower motor on low speed. where can i buy this board? it slides in a plastic case under the dash near the fuse panel.

It is called a blower motor resistor board you can buy it at most parts stores on special order or at a junk yard or the dealer

How do I replace the blower resistor motor in the A/C settings dial so that the A/C will work/blow on all 5 settings instead of working on just setting 3, 4, & 5?


Okay, first off it is not a motor, it is a small board with 4 different length coils of wire placed on it. It is called a resistor pack, and it is in the circuit between the blower speed switch on the dash and the blower motor. Car makers usually place them attached over a small hole in the heater/AC case under the dash, so that the small coils get some air blowing across them. They get hot when used because the small coils create resistance to current passing through the wire.

If your 1 and 2 speed coils are burnt out, a new resistor pack will make all settings work again. Look for a multi-wire connector up under the dash on the heater/AC case. If it is retained by two screws, that is the resistor pack.

My blower motor only works on 1 & 2 & 3 speeds dont work on 4 & 5. I was told to buy a blower motor. Need to know where this is located to replace on my 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer


If your blower works at some speeds and not others, the likelihood of the blower motor needing to be replaced is low. The more common problems would be either the switch or the resister that regulates the motor speed. The resistor is usually located in the air duct under the dash.

THE BLOWER FAN ONLY WORKS ON HIGH - THIS IS THE CASE WHETHER THE HEAT OR AC IS ON.


Different speed settings on the blower motor is achieced by using resistors mounted on a circuit board usually fitted in the airstream of the system. For the highest speed setting the blower motor is connected directly to the battery (by way of the switch of course). Lower fan speeds are achieved by lowering the voltage(using a resistor between the battery and fan). These resistors get pretty hot and sometimes burn through thereby not letting power through to the fan motor. The first place to start looking would be under the passenger side dash. Look for a connector plug in the ducting close to the fan motor with at least 3 wires connected to it. On the Silverado for instance it is accessed from below the glovebox, there is a large plastic cover that needs to be removed first. It is fitted to the fan housing.

Heater/AC control switch only operates in high speed. Allother positions don't run.


Sounds like resistor gone, which is in circuit between your controls and the blower motor. Usually located under dash near ducting, or near blower motor, which I believe in your vehicle is located under hood on passenger side firewall area. I normally will follow harness (wiring) from blower and work back to switch at dash to locate resistor. When you check at autoparts store or dealer for new blower resistor, they should be able to tell you probable location if not exact, as well as whether it may be possibly built in to blower motor assembly.

The heater blower in my 2002 sentra is only woking when on the highest setting...do you know what the problem could be?


The blower resistors have gone bad and needs to be replaced.

The 2002 Nissan Sentra blower motor resistor is located near the blower motor itself, which can be found under the dashboard, on the passenger side of the car.

To access it, you have to remove the glove compartment and the isolation panel that covers the bottom of the blower. Do the following steps:

  1. first, locate and open the glove compartment on the passenger side;
  2. remove the four upper screws and slide the door lock bracket out;
  3. pull out the two pins at the inner bottom corners of the compartment;
  4. take out the glove compartment assembly;
  5. remove the two screws retaining the isolation panel and slide the later out.
Looking under the dashboard, you can now see the blower motor and, on its left side, near the firewall, the resistor block brown connector.

To take out the blower motor resistor:
  1. remove the white plastic bracket that faces it;
  2. unplug the brown connector;
  3. remove the two screws on the resistor's socket;
  4. pull the resistor block out.
The resistor block is actually a PCB ("Printed Circuit Board"). The traces printed on this board have different electrical resistance, and are used by the control assembly to vary the speed of the blower fan.

I believe Auto Zone or Parts Source has the blower resistor you need. Good luck

A/c fan not working on all speeds


Easy fix,there is a small electronic computer control that the blower motor runs through...can be mounted on the blower motor or under dash near floorboard,,,some of the circuits blow out and goes to failsafe mode and blows on one speed only...go to parts store and tell them whats happening and they should be able to tell you where its located...its a small elctronic circuit board,and should be under 50 bucks...hope this helps...Lee

Ok, first off, check the fuses under the dash. If they're all good, does the blower work only on high speed? If yes, then you have a bad blower motor resistor, which is located under the hood, near the blower motor itself. If the motor doesnt work at all at any fan speed, make sure the wiring harness that plugs into the motor under the hood is clean and tightly installed. If it still doesnt operate, sometimes tapping on the blower motor housing will kick it on, but if that doesnt work, you may have to replace the blower motor. They are available aftermarket, and arent usually too expensive.

Usually, when the fan works only on high speed the issue is with the blower motor resistor. It will be located under the dash close to the blower motor itself. It will have a multi-wire plug and feeds signal to the blower motor. An updated resistor maybe available in which case a slightly larger hole will have to be cut for the new resistor. This is not a difficult proceedure, only a couple of screws are holding the resistor in place and most resistors are resonably priced. I recommend you buy the resistor at the dealer, this is a case where you get what you pay for.

dash yes book time is 6.5 hours..ouch... check blower motor resistor first..and blower relay... the usual suspects here

Blower motor resistor


Hi..The Blower Motor Resistor is located under the glove compartment, pass side. You do not need to remove the glove box, or anything. Look under the dash on the pass side and you will see the resistor with the wires leading to it. (looks about the width of a Credit card) Simply undo the ( 2 ) 9 or 10mm screws from the resistor, slide/pull it down from the slot, un-clip the wire harness and replace with the new resistor. Screw it back up. Thats it. Takes about 4 minutes. The dealer wants $125.+ to do the job. The resistor is about $24.00.
Good Luck. If it keeps blowing, the blower motor is probably drawing too many amps. Then you have to switch that out.
