-   2004 optra...head gasket going at 90,000 km. It was leaking into the engine so the engine was burning it off so if we had brought it in for something else, we would have not known about the issue until the car seized.  We were 11 days out of warrenty and GM would not cover all the expenses even though in doing our research we found that this is a problem on this particular car and this is not something that should be happening to a car w/ 90,000km! We are disappointed with the service and with the car and do not recommend buying a GM car.  If something goes wrong, you can not count on the company to back the car up.  Zero customer service.-   Guest

-   This just happened to me as well at 148,000kms... I just got word today either my head gasket is shot or there is a crack in the head... -   amcmaster

-   Blown head gasket on 2004 chev optra Ls. My Mechanic has discovered an extra large hole in the gasket beside cylinder #4. The engine was assembled with this gasket and this mechanic has photographed it to show the disintegration of the gasket material and the route of deterieration of the gasket resulting in the breaching of the fire ring causing #4 cylinder to fill with coolant. The GM replacement gasket comes with the same oversized hole. We are now waiting on an after market, redesigned gasket. so that we can reassemble the car. This vehicle has only 69000 km on it.-   snosrap66
