1998 dodge ram 1500 starting problem

My truck has always had trouble with the battery because it needs new conecters so whenever i turn it off i have to go under the hood and make sure the conecters are tight to turn it back on but now the truck wont start at all. I got a new conecter and clamped the other one tight and everything electrical comes on and works but when i turn the key to try to start it the fuse box under the hood starts making noise and i cant really explain that. Im thinking a fuse is out but i dunno any ideas?

We have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pickup and now when we try to start it just clicks. Is it the starter. email address By the way we have a new battery.

could be the starter, but first try to clean the battery cable ends, try this next time it clicks turn on the head lights and see if the lights go out when it clicks if they do it is a power supply problem ( battery, battery cable ends, ground cable, etc. ) if they stay on it is the starter....GOOD LUCK

The truck will only start periodically I have a 97 dodge 1500

check all the conections to your starter, battery, and alternator. if conections are good, you may need a solinoid.

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 - having a hard time starting, will sometimes not even turn over, but has started after about two to five tries and then runs fine.

sounds like a battery might have a bad cell or the starters armature is bad , you can check this by useing a voltage tester while cranking the engine .

Clean battery cables and battery posts. If that does not work you probably need a new battery.

Check if you can if it doesn't have some kind of alarm system that locks out when battery disconnected.(owners manual, or where you bought the vehicle), then I'd check all the fuses, starting with any under the hood to see if maybe one of those blew when hooking up new battery.
