The driver door needed to have the door switch replaced. Less than $15-20 from Saturn and they gave instructions on how to do it. Very little time involved and works fine now.

I have a 98 s10 truck, my power locks do not work. how do I troubleshoot the power door locks

there should be a small solenoid in the door that throws the poppers. There should be power to these. You can check this with a multimeter . If the power is going to both of themyou might, if you are lucky, get away with replacing just these.
There might be no power going to them in which you will have the task of tracking where the power outage originates.

Ishould tell you that I do not have direct experience of your truck but have repaired lock systems in other vehicles over the years, they are much the same.
This a job that any competent person can tackle, it is not too difficult

Good Luck with it

My power door locks do not work. I tried resetting by disconnecting the battery, and that works until I start the ignition. Then it goes back to not working.

First check fuse #14 & #19 in the under hood fuse/relay box. If either is bad, replace the fuse. This may fix your problem. Each power lock actuator [solenoid motor ] has a built in circuit breaker. The actuators are controlled by the BCM [Body Control Module, aka Body computer] To do further troubleshooting will require a computer scan tool.

Central locking not working

I am not sure what model Honda you have, but on both of the 1998 Honda Civic LX models I own , their locking/ unlocking problems were caused by a Power door lock control module, which is located in the drivers door, behind the inside door panel. There is a troubleshooting process you can go thru, by jumpering various wires to test each door, but if everything isn't working, and you have checked your fuse for the lock circuit, then the Power door lock control module is the most likely suspect.

Hyundai 2002 sonata,,,, car has power locks.

You are correct in your assumption about a relay... there are two relays. One is for 'LOCKING' the other is for 'UN-LOCKING.' They are both labeled as "LOCK" relays (1 & 2). You can verify if a relay is bad by swapping one with the other. If the problem moves to 'unlocking' the doors, but will NOW LOCK - the relay is bad. If not, further troubleshooting is necessary.
