Jeep dies when I try to shift. manual transmission, 4.0, 4wd. Jeep won't start when clutch is engaged and it dies when clutch is engaged. Reverse lights work, it will start and run if I start it in gear-...

You have a wire shorting out when you press the clutch. You will need to have help looking for it. Have someone set inside and press the clutch and look for a wire that is coming into contact with the linkage. Good Luck.

check the fuel pump fuse/relay, could be just bad enough to cause an intermittent start/no start. and check fuel pressure, spark and the crank position sensor.
