2006 Honda odyssey. Security alarm activates randomly. How do I prevent it?

Thank you for your assistance. The alarm is back to normal. There's nothing that I did that I can take any credit for.

I've been to Honda three times now for "random alarms without reason". They say the "fault code" indicated that the hood lock sensor was the problem so, they adjusted it. That fix "lasted" two days. I just called Honda again for yet another appointment. Fortunately I'm still under warranty.

Hi,

I am assuming that your Odyssey has a factory installed alarm system. If yes, then it is a basic door and ignition sensor to trigger and therefore should have no false trigerring. If it activates (with no) randomly even when not triggerred, then it can only be further assumed that door locking/sensor mechanism is getting false readings. Any thing out of the ordinary with the doors? (especially driver's side passenger doors).

You may want to check the electrical connection of the power sliding doors (Junction Switches). Like most door switches, they may be misaligned, worn out, corroded or simply deteriorated. Being an electrical device, moisture, rust, dust, grime and dirt may affect its performance.

If that does not correct the problem, you may want to check fuse #13 (the manual says #5) for continuity. There are some instances that remove and reinstall resets the alarm.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Where is the reset button located in a 2003 Honda Odyssey for the anti theft?

If the remote was programmed before loss of power, push and hold the unlock button until the alarm stops. If not try locking and unlocking the drivers side door with the the key. This has reset the alarm on my 2001 Odyssey.

You will also need the unlock code to reactivate your stereo after long term power loss. It is on a card with the manual given to the owner of new vehicles. A smart dealer will put it on a sticker in the glove box. Otherwise you have to remove the radio and give a Honda dealer the radio serial number to get the unlock code. Don't try it randomly; 10 incorrect tries locks the stereo.

How to remove the roof liner of a 2006 Honda odyssey to find where leak is orginating?

You need to remove most of the interior panels that prevent the liner from coming out. Than you have to carefully bend it slightly and go out the back door with it.

Why does the security system light blink on my 2006 honda odyssey, but I can't get the system to alarm. I try to open the door without my key and it stays quiet.

Read your owners manual first

Check for a worn out/ dead battery
in the car,not key fob

Then take it to a dealer or a repair shop,
if you know of one that knows anything about
a Honda, or at least has a data base to look up info
on the problem

Similar issue with my 2005 Odyssey, although I (and the dealer) tried all doors and interior lights and can't get alarm to activate. Seems to do so intermittently, however (once in a while, randomly). ...

Could be that the key and the CPU are not talking to each other. In your handbook there should be 1. and emergency code and 2. instructions on how to code the key. Follow the instructions given and see if that works. If not then get the MAIN dealer to programme the key & the CPU to each other.

Hope that works

I have 2002 Honday Odyssey. Recently, the alarm goes off randomly. Is there any way to permanently disable alarm? Thanks.

No, but your problem might be located in the hood latch. Try unplug hood latch harness(letter A). If alarm return to normal leave it unplug or replace hood latch(letter C). Alarm system should work normally if you leave harness unplug. good luck.

Panic alarm after using the jumper cable how to stop making noise

this is a protection feature to prevent disabling the alarm, if you have no means of stopping it with a keyfob, then disconnect the battery ground and reconnect it, that usually resets stuff to where you need it. check your manual first and make sure that I am not giving you wrong info on your battery as some are hooked up weird and have buttons and clips to get to do this stuff. (AKA BE CAREFUL!)

Windows open automatically

This is a feature from Honda Alarm system, if you keep holding the unlock button on your key, all the windows will come down to let fresh air come in before you get in the car. I do enjoy this feature :) I am supprise that the dealer didn't know about it.
