Alternator bearings whining a lot, otherwise works fine, bearing will go out soon, can rebuild, parts not readily available though, alternator not either.

Don' t be so quick to think that it is the bearings. If the noise gets louder with acceleration try the alternator tensioner first. Mine was doing the same thing. Whining noise at start up and louder upon acceleration. Replaced alternator tensioner and the noise is gone. Hope this helps

You will have disconect the neg.-BAT TERMINAL then loosen alt. adjusting bolt, remove alt. belt( or remove serpentine belt if so exist) then remove the two existing bolt at the bottom of the alt.then remove altenator.ree-install in reverse direction.

My 2006 trailblazer is making a whinning noise, it starts when I start the car and gets louder as I accelerate.

I had this problem with my 2006 Trailblazer and it was the idle tension pulley. (If you change it yourself---don't make the mistake I did----get the spacer out of the old one and put on the new one-----spacer is hard to get!) Hope that helps you.

Engine whinning

I had the same problem on my 2005 Envoy. Turned out to be the idler pulley bearing. It is just a pulley the belt rides on. The bearing in the pulley was what was making the high pitched whine. I replaced the bearing, and the noise went away.
