Air Conditioning Problem

I have a 2000 TDI Beetle and when I turned it off last night the air was working fine. When I turned it on this morning the air will not work. The fan does not come on and no air comes out and it makes no noise whatsoever. I checked the fuses but I am not sure if I looked at the correct stuff. Can you help me? I would really rather not have to spend a ton to get it fixed.

98 beetle - Unit working fine. I got intothe car reached to turn the fan up from low (1) and the dial felt like it kicked back against my hand. Fan will not blow, a/c light does not come on, recirculate light does not come on. All fuses check out.

Compressor has recently gone out. even then, the fan would still blow, just not cool.

I have the same problem with the aircond too. Yesterday, Ok. Today,no air or sound whatever is coming out of the aircond system nor the compressor. Now,i know that it's not a compressor problem.Since aircond tend to blow air even with a faulty compressor.

The one answer I haven't seen posted on here yet is in relation to the coolant fan control module. This module controls, at the very least, the a/c compressor AND the electric cooling fans. I've been looking for a wiring schematic so that I can verify the problem myself.

Sounds like you will need a new compressor, it is a common issue on bettles 1999 and newer! it is about a $900 total job!

Fuse number/location for air conditioning compressor 2000 beetle

View the attached website to see if your problem is in the fuse block that is under the hood immediately on top of the car's battery.

Also, the car's blower motor/climate control is controlled by the 25 amp fuse No. 25 in the fuse block located at the end of your dashboard.

I have a 2000 VW Beetle - the battery light came on this morning will driving to work (5 minute drive) and by the the time I got to work, the power steering wasn't working. Any ideas?

Sounds like the serpintine belt that turns your power steering pump has broken or came off of the pulley.

You should see the problem when you open the hood.

I have a 2000 Beetle and when I turned it off

In some cases everything would be fine (fuse, thermo resistor). Look around the bottom area of the fan switch, even your carpet for a copper strip with a strange shape, I'd say about an inch size. If you do it came from the fan speed selector switch and has fallen off. If you're a DIY person you can spend a day putting it back inside the switch. If not just go buy a new climate controller.

Air Conditioning

Check the fuses under the hood for corroision. They should be locarted on the right hand side looking under the hood. I have a 2000 beetle that I was having problems with. technicans check everything and said all was o.k.. I found a fuse that was burnt up and cover with corroison. I cleaned the terminals replaced the fuse and have had no more problems.
