Hi, I gave my '97 Town and Country cluster to a cluster repair center and they soldered the joints in the cluster. They said that there was a small crack somewhere inside. Now my mini van runs great! I used to hit the dashboard to fix the problem and that worked too. Now, however, I do not have to hit the dashboard and so far I have not had any problems on the road. Hope it works for you!

Exactly as wesbingham3 sez> my 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan AWD went in to limp mode just out of the blue(my wife had just used with no prob) then BAM just like that everything messed up. no speedometer, check engine light on, PRNDL all lite up and transmission in 2nd.... two repair shops and $400 dollars lighter the problem solved. battery acid had leaked down onto the PCM wireing harness and the whole thing was a mess. Why is crappy MOPAR battery leaking acid ???? case NOT cracked. overcharging or ??? most batteries don't leak acid ! ! would highly recommend GEL Cell.

The p1698 code is for the (bus) that is how the computers commmunicate with each other and also how the scan tool talks to the computers.

There is a common problem with these vans, that would be a good place to start. The battery will leak acid onto the wires underneath the battery. If you remove the battery and battery tray you will be able to see the large wiring harness under the battery. Inspect all of the wires underneath the battery for damage.

That's normal for Chrysler minivans. Clear the code and don't worry about it unless it happens again.

2001 dodge ram 2500. I am getting 3 service codes 1693 1694 and 1698 what are the and how do I fix them? I just had a new engine controller put on. Any ideas

P1693 - A companion DTC was set in both the ECM and PCM
P1694 - No CCd message from PCM - Aisin transmission
P1698 - No CCd message from TCM
I would check the connections from the new engine control. Are these codes that show up new or have they not been cleared from a previous problem. Be sure all codes are cleared, Hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks

Wat is a code p 1698

p169 is "no ccd bus mesages recieved" that means the engine OR trans computer has not seen any communication (called a BUS) from the other modules on the communication bus if the instrument cluster is not working then it is the source of the code if the car wont shift then there is a communication issue with the trans computer if it wont start then there is a problem with the engine computer communication this is usually set by a bad instrument cluster

Check engine light is on with code p1698 what is this code

The code P1698 is: No CCD messages from TCM. That means the communication between the Transmission Control Module and the Power Control Module is lost. Sometimes this happens when a PCM, or TCM is replaced without being flashed, a bad connection at the PCM, TCM, or a bad TCM. Hope this helps.

1999 Dodge Caravan with a code 23. What does that

OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description
A P0020-023 code refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module). That consists of an oil control valve (OCV), also called a solenoid valve and other components. Basically the check engine light and associated P0020-023 trouble code means that the voltage in the circuit has fallen below a set limit for a specific amount of time (varies by make/model/engine). Bank 2 is the side of the engine that doesn't contain cylinder #1.

Causes
A code P0020-023 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty oil control valve (OCV)
  • Open or short in the VVT/VCT circuit
  • Open or short in the OCV / solenoid valve
  • Damaged computer (PCM)
Possible Solutions
Some recommended troubleshooting and repair steps are:
  • Carefully inspect the Bank 2 VVT/VCT system circuit wiring and connectors, repair as required
  • With a warm engine, test the operation of the OCV, replace/repair as needed

1999 Dodge Caravan

A P1698 code is described as PCM Fault, No CCD Messages from TCM Conditions. It's triggered when the key is on, and the PCM did not detect any CCD messages from the Transaxle Control Module (TCM) for 10 seconds. Time for a trip to the dealer unless you feel like inspecting the wires & connectors leading to/from the TCM. Usually I tell people to go to the dealer when there are TCM problems! They can read any codes stored in the TCM that a regular code reader can't get. Good luck.

Engine check light

It means that it didn't receive a signal from the transmision module.
Have your transmission control module checked.

To reset your engine codes:
Remove the negative terminal of your battery (10mm wrench).
Turn your ignition key to START and hold it there for about 15 seconds.
Turn your ignition key to OFF and remove it.
Connect the negative terminal of your battery.

TCM (Trans control Module)
(electronic transmission control module)
