Question about 1992 Chevrolet Astro Extended

1 Answer

Compressor.. I have a problem with my compressor.. It squeels and grinds. Some people have said its the compressor or just the clutch with worn down ball bearings.. which is easier and cheaper to fix? or would just taking the compressor out and puting in a bypass pully be easiest.

Whit the car running AC off take a small flat head and bend the clutch plate out all the way around and see if by separating it the noise stop. if not a by pass is cheaper

Mid sixties Ford 4000. Suddenly decided to make severe grinding noise when trying to engage gears and cannot engage gears. Weirdly this does not always happen. Gears engage OK when engine not running

Hello, you may have more success in the proper category of lawn or farm stuff. Fortunately I have same Tractor. Sounds like clutch fork is not moving clutch the same way each time you press clutch. Could be clutch needs play removed. Sometimes there is a pivot ball for the clutch fork to rest on. When the pivot ball is worn the clutch fork can rock. Also remember RPM to give gears time to stop spinning before changing gears.

Adjust the drive belt for the ac compressor as the belt is too loose. Check the belt condition and replace if worn.

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 when you push the clutch in all the way there is a grinding noise and tough to engage into gear and there is a high pitched squeeling noise that comes and goes as the pedal...

you need to replce the cluch and preasure plate. the clutch is gone, its hard to shift because there is nothing left to pushout on the plate and the squeeling is from the same problem, the clutch works like brakes, when the pads are gone and you step on brake you get asqeeling sound from it being metal to metal the same thing is happening with your clutch

Front drivers wheel. not a click. not a clump. it is a squeeling grinding sound progressively getting worse each time i drive it. brakes are fine. ball joints replaced a year ago

may be the bearing in one of the front wheels. raise the front of the car and grasp the tire on top and bottom and move it up and down is either one loose? the hub assembly on that side may need replacing. check this area first to see.hope this helps
