SOURCE: all of sudden my reverse wont work in my 99 durango

You may need to change your transmission fluid and filter.Reverse is the first to show problems when your fiter is clogged or fluid is low. Im assuming you've checked the fluid. The reverse bands require the fluid to travel the furthest. This is the cheapest way to start investigating tranny troubles. If, when you drop the pan you'll see a small magnet. If the magnet has a large amount of metal filings on it, you could have worn clutches. Some filings are normal but if they include a splinter- like texture, you've got damage.

SOURCE: 99 dodge durango 5.9 with a 46re trany goes in

These transmissions are known for having problems unfortunately. If it drives in first gear thei it sounds like a broke spring in the valve body. If you are not familiar with trans repair this can be a task as there are lots of parts in the valve body. Also could be a bad solenoid on the valve body they have fine screens and get clogged real easy. On these transmissions it is best to change fluid as often as possible as they are tempermental!

Hope this gets you moving forward!

Why does my 99 Dodge Durango 5.2liter it goes in gear as as it's in gear it bucks and stalls drive and reverse

That sounds to me like it could be a stuck torque converter or failed torque converter clutch.

NO BUS

I have had the misfortune of my 99 durango come up with the no bus several times in the last 2 years. Each time it was the PCM (computer). The problem is that even the dealer can not help to much because Chrysler only referbs PCM if your car is to old. I am now stuck with constantly replacing **** PCM . I love my Durango , but this sucks.
You should read for computer problem codes and go from there.

I was backing up and heard a clunk and now the

I do believe it's the low clutch in your tranny. I had a dodge that did the same thing but would not go forward, only reverse.

99 Dodge Durango Dies When Slowing

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
