It's the cca thats the problem here or cold crancking amps. Just make sure the battery fits into the battery holder and get one with as many cca as you can fit. You could even use a 4x4 battery with 700 or 750 cca if it fits in and you can secure it. But I would recomend you get a smaller passenger car size one as 4x4 batteries would be to big

Will different tire sizes work?

Hello Linton...the used tires should work if they are 14 inch....Check for proper clearance... They will be a little taller than the ones that came on your escort.
Your speedometer will not be accurate with the taller tires, it will be a few MPH's off...just a reminder so you wont get a ticket.
Good luck...i hope this helps.

What size engine does my escort sport have?

Hello twobasko89: My name is Roger and I will answer for you. The 98 escort had one of two engines. You have either a 2.0 SOHC. engine or a 2.0 DOHC. engine. If you look at the VIN. number in the lower left side of the dash.Count over to the 8 th. digit. If it is a 3 then you have a 2.0 DOHC. engine. If the 8 th. digit is not a 3. Then you have a 2.0 SOHC. engine. SHould you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer as this way we can tell you received the correct answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

95 escort gt sport 16v Dohc

iit can be, buut it also can be your oxygen sensor which can be real fickle with the gt
also air flow sensor can be a pain.
When you check either sensor make sure that when you replace either you reset the main computer form the car.
Simply by disconnecting battery for 24 hours. Otherwise you will still have the same problem
