My 2001 Hyundai elantra parking lights will not shut off ?

Hi Colin, I suggest a diagnostic scan. It seems to me that you have a internal failure with one or more sensor or other problems with the ABSystem. Regards John

Shift senor upper just replaced mine $65.

You need to have your check engine light checked to see what the code errors are and repair the problem so that it will pass smog. The check engine light is on telling you that something is wrong with the vehicle.

if the key is in the ignition, then that is the warning to remove same.if the key is not, then either you have left the indicators (for one side parking lights)or the lights are still on.

replace the head light switch

NEED check engine light code. just shooting in the dark, but it could be your throttle position sensor or the gear indicator (some times called neutral safety switch). to try and reset it (works on some models) when its doing this (giving you grief). pull over to the side of the road when safe and shut off the car (put in park) then press the accelerator all the way to the floor for 30 seconds. then start the car (take foot off of accelerator first) might cure the problem. engine error code would be most helpfull

Your alternator is probably not charging at full capacity. The brake light is next in sequence with the battery light, and will glow dimly. (Set your parking brake, and it will glow brighter.) I replaced the alternator, and cleared up the problem.

I have one other suggestion, clear all the codes and drive the car until the check engine light comes on, then rerun the test,
