  2. Step 2: Bolts 1-10 verify torque without loosening

Install water pump to a 2005 dodge 318 engine

First remove the clutch fan. Big nut on the front of the pump. Use a long wrench and hammer to knock it loose. I also heat the nut up some, this softens the locktite on the pump and nut, easier to break loose. Once off lay it in the shroud. Remove the bolts to the shroud and lift them both out at the same time. This gives you easy access to the pump. Drain the coolant. remove the hoses. Look at the new pump to see where the bolt pattern is, remove the old pump, clean the engine surface. Razor blade works. Reinstall. A couple of hours work.

I need to replace water pump on a 2006 dodge ram

318 or 360 engine?
well, the removal procedure is about the same on both, remove fan and belts first, then remove the water pump, be careful not to damage the radiator, clean the block surface for the new gasket to sit uniformly again, and bolt new pump back on, tighten bolts 3/4", bottom out bolts first on a symetrical cross pattern., I would recommend changing the thermostat too, always a must when new pump is installed...

Good luck

Water pump 1996 dodge ram van 318 2500

Before you remove the serp belt, loosen the clutch fan bolts from the water pump. Other wise you will be fighting with them later. Other wise just drain the coolant and remove the pump. I would suggest a new thermostat since the coolant is drained. Make sure the block surface is cleaned of all gasket material and other dirt before installing your new pump. I usually scrape the area with a putty knife and wipe it down with some brake clean on a rag.

Engine swap

I just put a 96 360 magnum in my 97 dodge 4x4 that had a 318 in it. Yes it does fit. I noticed that the flex plate on the 360 has balance weights on it and the 318 does not. Make sure the plate stays with the 360. The torque converter and exhaust manifolds bolted right up. The 96 360 engine had different connector plugs on the Map sensor, Crank Sensor and Tps. Get those off of your 318.
I did notice that with the 96 PCM for the 360 my fuel guage was off quite a bit. The 360 will run off of the 318 computer at least if your in a bind for Money.
