Question about 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette
I had that problem and found that the real problem was that there was too much friction between the window and the frame. I used WD40 on a cloth to rub the black rubber around the frame and now the window goes up and down without a problem.

I had the same problem with a silhouette 2004 that I bought... my husband just wrenched it up. Then I took it to Krieger's in Muscatine, Iowa (they are / were a dealership for Olds) and their estimate for a new window motor was $995, so I decided not to have them do it and took it to a local body shop, it took about three days for the part and only cost about $200. After finding out that Krieger's was going to charge nearly $1000 for the repair and I had ALREADY spent $3,000 with them to get other things done on it, I decided I didn't need the window... Then I pulled up to the bank and couldn't get out of the door to make a deposit and decided to look to a body shop. Thank goodness I did that because I soon realized that I really needed that thing to go up and down.

Before you replace anything, inspect the connector pins in both the driver's door switch and the passenger door switch. If you don't find any problem with these connector pins, replace the driver's door control switch.
