If you ran out of fuel it may have blown the fuel pump fuse. put gas in tank. replace fuel pump fuse and cycle the key on but not to the start position, you should hear a buzzing noise which is your fuel pump when the buzzing stops turn ignition off and do it again. repeat a bout 5-10 times and it should start after that.

My 99 Windstar ran out of gas. Changed fuses 5&207; checked fuel injector. Added 2 gallons gas, turned key to "on" 3x's. STILL NOT STARTING!!

although rare it is possible to destroy the fuel pump by running tank to m/t , a quick check to see if this is the case is to sit in car with door open , hold your foot on door jam switch (stops chime) and turn key to run (not start) once or twice in a row , if your pump is still working , you will hear fuel injectors prime , (elect motor runs for three seconds ) you may have to listen carefully and repeat test several times to hear it (quiet place helps !!) if you don't hear the pump prime !! and you ck/replaced the fuel pump fuse already , it will need replaced (its inside fuel tank !!)

If engine runs until gas tank is empty, will injectors need to be primed, and if so, how to prime them?

No, The injectors do not need primed. If having trouble getting fuel to engine, Check and be sure fuel pump is working properly. God-Bless! If not check the fuses and relay first.

How to prime carburetor on 1988 Toyota tercel 1bbl

Normally, you wouldn't need to do this to get the engine started. If you have a mechanical fuel pump ion the engine, just cranking the engine over should cause the pump to push gas into the carburetor. And if an electric pump, it should come on with the key in on.

But to prime, pour a small amount of gas down the throat of the carb, and crank. As the engine fires and runs, the pump should begin working and pushing fuel into the carb.

Wont start after it is turned off. have to put fuel into the throtal body to start. once started , it runs great. fuel pump was replaced last spring. Can also hear the far left fuel pump relay clicking...

Hello! Change the Fuel Pump Relay...The prime contacts are defective..They are single pole double throw and normally closed for several seconds to prime the pump and then swing open applying battery to the fuel pump on the normally open side...The chatter is that set of contacts not breaking free from their normally closed position...The result is a unprimed fuel pump (which you are priming with gas into the throttle body....That plus the noise...Guru...saailer

I ran out of gas in 2005 cadillac sts and when i put gas in it it keeps on shacking like its about to cut off

Fill tank and put in a GOOD fuel system cleaner. (STP, Gumout, etc..) Running it out of fuel could've have damaged pump, fuel actually "cools" pump, running out and having to re-prime might have damaged pump. Try the cleaner first (pump replacement is not cheap) and consider changing fuel filter soon also.

My fuel pump runs but no gas comes out do i have to prime tne pump

No, you don't have to prime the fuel pump. I would check or replace the fuel filter first. If filter is ok, then you probably have a bad fuel pump or restricted fuel line from the pump. Hope this helps :)

After running out of gas wont start

after you put gas in it did you prime the system?

when the gas runs out it drains the fuel lines, so after you put gas in the tank you will need to prime the system. To do this turn the key on to run but don't crank the starter and count to three, then key off and out. Do that three to four times and that should take care of getting gas to the engine.

Make sure you can hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key on. Sometimes when you run low on gas it can overheat the fuel pump causing it to fail.
