Hello my name is Israel and I will be glad to help you. On this vehicle it is fairly easy. This vehicle has a coil to plug assembly, meaning that each spark plug has its own coil. All you have to do is carefully pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug with a little "tough love". Using a 5/8 socket remove spark plug and replace with new one, connect spark plug wire until you feel it "snap" back onto the spark plug. Repeat with the other 7 spark plugs. Good Luck.
The COIL PACK TOWERS are numbered :
coil----3---4
pack---2---6
plug----1---5
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The engine cylinders / spark plugs are numbered :
passenger side , front to rear , 1 , 2 , 3
-----drivers side , front to rear , 4 , 5 , 6
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The spark plug firing order is ( 1 -4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 )
good luck because its a pain in your....well, you know. There are going to be "boots" on top of your cylinder heads, twist and remove the boots and you will find the spark plugs "RECESSED" into the cylinder head. This was one of the worst ideas for ever had, it would have Henry Ford rolling over in his grave. Your going to need a ratchet with and extention, and a spark plug socket that has the rubber boot on the inside. If you do not have this you will never get the plug out because its siting in that recessed hole. It's a pain, but good luck to ya, glad its you and not me that has to replace them things. By the way, get ready to cuss when you remove/ replace the back two plugs.
Bring your ford to the shop, The plugs break most of the time while your trying to remove them. Less head ack to have the shop break them then your self. Good Luck
I suspect the coil pack for one of your cylinders. Ford uses a spark plug cap with a electronic coil pack attached to each plug. I have repaced three on my 2002 F150 so far; Its a common problem
hey very frustrating i know mine does the same it looks to me that the problem is revolving around the throttle body or the tps throttle positioning sensor i was looking at all the postings on here sounds legit
