Only warm air comes out of heater on 89 cutlass ciera core blew out, new thermostat what controls air temp in heater system. Lever moves from cold to hot easily but can't tell if it moves anything under...

#1 Listen if you hear the blend door flap open and close if you do then working good.

#2 run car to normal temp and touch both heater hoses and make sure temp is similar if one is hot and the other warm then your heater core is clogged and most likely that can be the problem it build lime from having tap or well water in coolant system distilled water is recommended but who uses that.

#3 run car when cold with cap off @ 2k rpm and top off radiator. Then close cap and continue to rev @2k until normal temp if heater hoses are not equal in temp heater core clogged.

I have a 1987 murcury sable heater is cold changed thermastad flushed sytem header coil not pluged the control arm is opening and shutting for hot heat and cold what?

First, with the engine running, squeeze your upper rad hose to try and close it off for a few seconds. When you release it, if your water pump is functioning properly, you should feel a surge of coolant go through it. If that is okay, try loosening one of your heater hoses with the engine running, and see if you can get any air to come out. Sometimes... quite often, in fact, the heater core will become air locked and not allow any coolant into it.

Not enough heat coming out

Hi

Sounds like a flap problem on heater unit.

Get your head under the dash and check for movement, when you operate temp control hot to cold.

Good Luck !

John.

Heater doesn't work

Sounds like the heater core is stopped up. Try removing the heater hoses and backflushing the core.If this doesn't work replace the core.

89 sable heating problems

Most likely the thermostat needs to be changed.

If you do replace it make sure that you get the seal as well. It will cost you about $25 to do it your self.

Hope all goes well:)
